"What do you guys think about the 52 week saving challenge?"

http://www.thesimpledollar.com/thoughts-on-the-52-week-money-challenge/

52 weeks in a year. Save a dollar the fist week, 2 dollars the second week, etc..

Some people arent going in order and just cross off a number every week depending on their budget.

Obviously, this isnt for the big ballers on here but those who have trouble saving money.

By December, theoretically you would be putting in $51, $52, $53 or whatever a week...right?

If you had $50+ to spare to save...why not just do that now?

does it really matter?

I guess the idea is to start small and over time you will gain more discipline.

you can also put away $52 when you get your tax return.

I have a savings account at a credit union that I'm slacking on so I'm going to use it since I don't have an ATM card with this account.

It's going to get hard during the last few weeks so I will prolly use our tax returns to get those out of the way in April vs later in the year.

Some people who get paid biweekly are paying off the smaller sums during the weeks they don't get paid. $25 one week, $1 the next, $15, $4, etc..

^^ hiding it from yourself (more or less). This is my current 'savings plan'.

bout to increase my direct deposit around the middle of this month. I'll post a 6-month check-in round July.

I can already tell you I will have spent what I saved on Air Max's or some dumb shit.

First time I did it as outlined in the chart, second time I did even weekly amounts($26.50)often adding extra. Since I have a part-time gig that pays weekly it works well for me, and is a great routine way to save.

I've been doing auto deposits of $50 per check into my savings for the past two years. Easily saved $2400. That's the best I've ever done. Auto deposits are the only way I can save though so I'll give this one a try but I'm sticking to my formula for the first half of the year and then increase my auto deposits to $70 per check the second half.

payment is due that week, then I make that instead and just pick up where I left off the next week. It helps with paying off unexpected expenses that had to be put on credit.
