Freedom of speech has nothing to do with this. This shouldn't even need to be explained.
If he hates taking to the media, he should negotiate a no interview clause in his contract. Most NFL teams would reject it, but he'd be welcome to try.

i don't see what the big deal is.
not only that, but i don't even get WHY people would want him to talk. if he ever said anything, all he'd say is the same canned answers the first 20 guys they interviewed gave.

Could be a way for him to disguise the fact that he's unintelligent and doesn't know how to discuss various topics
