"White girl discovers Brooklyn Dancehall" Mon Jan-26-15 02:00 PM by SeV
lol this kinda funny
interview almost sounds like she filmed a nature doc on previous unknown species of animals
im dyin at this quote
"A Dancehall Queen dances to the music doing these really amazing, athletic displays of acrobatics and flexibility," says photojournalist Natalie Keyssar, who documented the scene in Brooklyn. "It's pretty provocative stuff. They're doing a lot of splits. They're putting their legs behind their heads. It's really powerful."
wondering if it was connected to this series i saw it is i'm still hoping for video
but frankly i saw a video installtion at an exhibition at the Studio Museum that was SO eloquent “Daggering” by Nicole Miller that i'm still i dunno i get teary eye'd not sure what it is about the piece

15. "yeah, I was surprised at how prevalent it is in Europe, esp the UK" In response to Reply # 13
I was sittin off one day at the office daydreaming about the skinout joint I went to as well as the other gigs I had gone to in my younger days and googled dancehall event pics. Come to fine out there's a pretty sizable number of events across Europe and I was surprised to learn that Japan's Dancehall Queens had been KILLIN IT.

Like my homie DJ's this Reggae Night at a local club and I be surprised at how many "hood" chicks come out - mixed with a good bit of college and professional sistas. Every now and then you might see a few white kids come out. I see a lot of them sporting the Bob Marley and Peter Tosh tees and posters and rocking the green, gold and red but they mostly just equate that with weed smoking.
I wanna see them really get immersed in the culture!
