"Who here smokes weed? Is it THAT addictive?"

Josh Gordon has failed another drug test and is now subject to a one-year suspension, according to league sources.

i think you are going to far....

yes it's a "drug"

it's actually less addictive than the 3 things i mentioned which is significant though and answers the question much more honestly

anything CAN be addictive

anything socially taboo or rewarding (especially those that are both like weed) give people added psycho-social reasons to indulge...

but nah, it's not addictive

it's less addictive than most of the shit we consume on a daily basis

I have friends that have told me that they were addicted to weed, but I've heard other folks on OKP in particular claim that it's not. So, I guess it depends on your usage and biological craving.

its like you cant grasp things that effect your body from a physical stand point and a psychological stand point.

caffeinie, alcohol, nicotine have physically addictive properties.

the reason weed can be trouble is because there are very few actual physical responses to with drawl symptoms. its gonna be more in tune with the persons psycological situation

COT DANG!

The OP asked ""Who here smokes weed? Is it THAT addictive?""

I Responded by saying ""It depends on who you ask. Pro We = No. Anti-Drug = Yes.""

It could have ended right there.

You choses to try an minimized the physical addictiveness by saying "nicotine or caffenine. not by the classical definition."

I responded with real like examples. You can't try to separate the physical and psychological aspects of additive nature for your own benefit.

I'm not separating the the aspects of physical and psychological. So, I don't know what you are trying to get at. The OP just asked a basic YES or NO question.

me personally i love weed but i'm not addicted to it.
(i literally don't smoke enough for it to be considered an addiction for me. but i LOVE weed tho)
i've seen people forgo food for weed. that's an addiction.

i know folks who refuse to do anything without weed or feel like they can't enjoy anything without it. that's addiction.
but not everyone who smokes weed is addicted to it.

also a lot of people who are addicted to weed are also addicted to the nicotine packed rollies they use (dutch masters etc) emphasizing their need to smoke.
some people are also addicted to the act of smoking.
basically which is to say even if they had edibles or dabs or something they still want to roll up and smoke.

This ^^^ I started smoking weed using rolling paper rizzla to be exact and never had a problem stopping when I needed or wanted to. But when I started using blunts and dutche's I had a hard time stopping when I needed too. I went back to papers and am currently not smoking for about a year now.

Just haven't been in the mood to smoke for a few weeks. For me it's a seasonal type of habit. But at the same time I have friends who can't seem to ever do anything without it. I don't think I have more self-control than they do, it just seems to affect them differently.

Let my love slide in and never slip out

In response to Reply # 0

So, it's less about the substance and more about the person. Does the substance have addictive properties, yes, but not everyone becomes addicted. For instance, someone can eat a fattening, sugar-filled meal once and be okay. They'll go back to eating healthy. No harm, no foul. Someone with a predisposition for addiction can eat that same meal and start to exhibit addiction through disordered eating. This country is long overdue to reevaluate the way we look at and treat addiction. We focus way too much on and get way too hypocritical about specific substances.

http://druglibrary.org/schaffer/hemp/general/bruin.htm

Many people and law makers incorrectly label it as one. A narcotic is something that renders you unconscious, so, the family of opiates and alcohol fall into that definition.

narcotic (n.)
late 14c., from Old French narcotique (early 14c.), noun use of adjective, and directly from Medieval Latin narcoticum, from Greek narkotikon, neuter of narkotikos "making stiff or numb," from narkotos, verbal adjective of narcoun "to benumb, make unconscious," from narke "numbness, deadness, stupor, cramp" (also "the electric ray"), perhaps from PIE root *(s)nerq- "to turn, twist." Sense of "any illegal drug" first recorded 1926, American English.

Marijuana can definitely become addiction forming, in many ways people have already described, however, your body will not develop a physical dependency as potent or as debilitating as real narcotics, regardless of use. A recent study published findings that 1 joint per day for a lifetime will not have any adverse effects on the lungs.

Marijuana does however cause the gray brain matter to shrink with prolonged daily use. The study found that the gray matter shrank but the brain created more synaptic connections as a result. Also, marijuana can cause something called cyclical vomiting disease. There are cannabinoid receptors all over the body including the digestive system, with abuse, you can overload these receptors and have difficult vomiting spells. Marijuana also damages your short term memory and makes it almost impossible for you to dream.

I think the best way to use marijuana is from Friday to Sunday, keeping Monday to Friday night clean. The enjoyment is enhanced as your tolerance level regulates itself in a healthy manner. Generally speaking I like to live as cleanly and as health conscious as possible from Monday to Friday and allow myself certain indulgences during the weekend.

~Experience is the currency of the soul.

he was the NFL's leading receiver

that is to say

if it wasn't illegal, against NFL rules, etc...

his drug use would have never interfered with his job and performance.

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon has failed another drug test and now will be subject to a one-year suspension, according to league sources.

Gordon tested positive for alcohol, a source said, confirming a report by Pro Football Talk. The failed test is the latest in a long line of setbacks for Gordon, whose future in Cleveland and the NFL now will be in question.
