"I want to move to LA and other random shares "
Thu Jan-22-15 10:33 PM by Very-Effortless

-I had never been to LA before and in the last 6 months I've been there three times for work. And every time I go I don't want to come back. I never thought I would want to move that far away from my family but the west coast is calling me. Not just yet, but soon...

-my boss quit and i missed the shit out of him today. I could have used his support.

-I go weeks at a time where the only person I talk to in person outside of work is my trainer and fitness instructors. i need to put some effort into being more social but I've taken a conscious break from dating and I'm really liking not having to squeeze drinks in or go to awkward dinners and shit like that.

-I've decided to go to panama on vacation in August. #operationbeachbody

-I am making some serious gains in the gym that are resulting in losses on the scale. I know everyone does well on their New Years resolutions until February but I feel more motivated aged this year than I have been in the past. I just wish I had a gym buddy in harlem.

-I have no life outside of work and the gym and I'm okay with that... For now.

LA is sitting on 9.6% as of the last census, which is the lowest percentage of blacks since the 40s

LA county got 10 million people.

That's a million niggas mostly clustered around South LA.

That's a city, if you gerrymandered the lines around the actual Black LA.

just hold ground in an area that they wanna gentrify, so that we can reap the benefits. Inglewood, Leimert, West Adams/Mid City...anywhere we can stay while they develop it. Hell, they even got a Fresh & Easy coming near Vermont/Gage, I hear.

was in Inglewood...a block away.

two different cities with two different Census stats.

Washington High, my high school that i walked to every day, is in Westmont (which is an unincorporated part of the county and predominantly black). it's not included in LA's Census stats, even though when you got your report card from Washington the address said Los Angeles on it. because it's fucking Los Angeles in practice. same thing with Athens, Willowbrook, and Florence.

none of this shit is reflected on paper. you just see that the City of Los Angeles has 400,000 black people and think that's that if you don't live here and see how fluid shit is in real life.

but I'm not sure if my visit would be my reality.

I was in VIP sipping champagne and bouncing from studio to studio but I know that ain't the norm..

and even if it was the norm, after a few weeks all that partying takes a toll.

The wife and I talk about it often and she has a few friends who used to live there who want to move back. My question though is why did they leave? More than likely it was that high ass rent.

And I meant that I need to do more socializing out of dating. It was a run on sentence so I can see why it's confusing.

south
all the transplants here have diluted the culture

when I lived there my friends would invite me out to dinner
with them and their girlfriend...never saw that before
somebody was always looking out..from kickbacks to parties
to trips to mexico, it just felt so close knit
I never got that whole la ppl are fake stereotype
it was actually kind of shocking at times how men and women alike
would go out of their way to be accommodating to a stranger

the girls in rancho, riverside and the IE are the greatest also

I noticed this when I visited. People looking out for each other.
And someone I barely knew let me crash at their crib. The polar opposite
of NY.

warm weather is a legitimate factor
even more legit is a job offer

the leftover half is a long distance relationship (my reason). I never would have been here otherwise and I like the city a lot more than most struggling transplants who came here "because it's LA". being from new york has me way less excited by big city life than say someone who came from Detroit or Arizona

but yeah all of my friends here are natives, so my experience has been way more normal than "cool" or luxurious
