I wouldn't recognize a Jason Derulo, Flo Rida, and I shazamed "Love Me Harder" this morning so I just identified my first Ariana Grande song. I have never finished that Meghan Trainor Bass song. Always turn the radio station. I just looked at the billboard pop chart and recognize maybe 3 of the top ten songs.
I don't watch any reality tv.
I've never seen Scandal or Gray's Anatomy. I wanted to be down with Shondaland so I watch the first three episodes of How to get away with murder but I fell off on that (I did meet the black girl from that show at a party last year though).
Never finished a Harry Potter movie.
I think my biggest one is that I have never taken a selfie.

I went to high school with someone on Love and Hip Hop Atlanta, so I watched a few minutes to see her. I literally couldn't sit through it long enough to see her storyline.
The only reason I know any of these people's name is from OKP and FB.

cosign. i vaguely know what they look like, i have heard a couple grande songs, and i finally watched the "about the bass" video the other day after hearing clips of and hearing people talk about it for months. i usually hear these kinds of popular songs when they are being discussed or when they are featured in commercials, trailers, and movies.
i was going to say that not knowing the current pop music (aimed at teens and younger IMO) is not tantamount to not being up on Pop Culture until...

i didn't know what a shonda was until how to get away with murder, which i never watched because i assumed that if i never watched scandal then i probably wouldn't care about this one, and i failed to see why i should care about a showrunner or creator, at least to the point where i would watch shows i would otherwise not be interested in.

And I know a lot about pop culture, but I can only give certain things my attention. I'm aware of some popular artists, but it's only if I was a fan before they blew up. I can't blame age because I haven't cared for pop music since I was 12.
Now, u have much more choices of what u consume, so it's easy to ignore what's out there.

I don't want any reality shows. I can't name 5 sports players for the life of me. Don't know the shoe game and never even wore nikes. I learn pop culture from kids around the neighborhood. Just heard the term "fleek" which I don't know what it means yet.
