"Who and what determines when the calvary is called in <swipe>"

Soooo, a possible abduction involving a girl that may have been a teen was reported in Northern Virginia. Most of the original news stories said it was a black man that abducted a teen with a blonde pony tail. They called in a helicopter from another county. What exactly prompted the helicopters? What other unconfirmed, potential criminal activity that didn't involve gunshots gets an immediate response with helicopter assistance from another county.

The story -

Prince William County police say a reported abduction in Montclair on Wednesday afternoon turned out to be a domestic incident.

"..All parties involved in this incident have been located and identified," county police spokesman Jonathan Perok said. "The investigation revealed that no abduction had taken place and that this incident stemmed from a domestic encounter between known parties."

Police were called to the 4200 block of Kenton Circle at 1:20 p.m., where a witness reported seeing a black man forcing a young girl into the backseat of a gray, four-door sedan in front of a house, Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said in a news release.

The vehicle then left the area and the witness called police.

Police officers are searching the area with the help of a Fairfax County police helicopter.
