Which I don't know is an achievement except for there were a plenty of moments when I thought to do one or the other and I said "naw, no need".
Slightly curious to see how long I can go without either. I don't think there would be any great benefit to doing neither and I am pretty sure it will make me a more irritable person, but I am curious to see how long I have the will power to go without.
Anyone willing to join the challenge?
If you would but don't like the prospects of going without for too long I can assure you that I doubt I will make it to the end of the week. But I know I could make it longer if there were others in on the challenge.
I have eaten more ice cream than usual in this time period. Less I replace sweets with alcohol and self pleasure and become a fat boy, I will add desert and soda to the list of things to abstain from.

It was so bad that I'm considering skipping Ghost & Rae this Thursday. I almost feel like it would be greedy & hedonistic to go (which is stupid, I know).

i went hard one NYE at Reg's house and almost threw up on his bed
after that (and the horrible hangover that followed), i decided i need to cool out-especially if i'm far from home or at someone else's house
i've been DJing or been too far from home every NYE since so i've been pretty good
this past NYE i was close to home and drank but i also had a huge domincan dinner right before the festivities so i barely got buzzed and woke up fresh as a daisy

I've had very good sets both sober and wasted, but most of the time I'm drinking one or two to get me at the "sweet spot". I'm thinking a "no hard alcohol" line, or "no drinking when not djing" might be the move.

I have an annual cycle where I drink only beer for a long period of time, then I forgot why I don't drink mixed drinks, start putting mix drinks in the rotation and then have an incident where I feel embarrassed myself and swear off mixed drinks...until I forget why I swore off mixed drinks.

It got to a point where I had to pick my poisons. Booze didn't make the list. It's kind of subtle the effects drinking has for most people but you notice them once they are gone.
I haven't fapped in a while either (like a month) but that's just a biproduct of being oversexed.

If anyone is suffering from bad hangovers, it's a good sign that your kidney's are experiencing a dangerous level of damage. The reason why anyone is "hungover" is because the body has not finished purifying itself. The older you get, the longer and harder the hangovers become. It's basically a sure sign of failing health.
If you would like to help your kidneys and liver, try going on a regiment of Flax Seed Oil. It has regenerative powers that restore kidney function.

i had kidney stones and at that point i stopped drinking liquor and later cut out beer, too.
it's just taxing, staying hydrated and focused becomes harder and i was still young (late 20s) when I stopped. i was just a social drinker then it became maybe once or twice a year to where now i just never have any.
i never had any related complications but it's crazy that i know a few people who did at that age. they were all heavy drinkers but damn, to be like 28 with gout or some sort of heart issue, that's brutal.

Out of anything that I have used in this lifetime, alcohol has been the most destructive. I agree with you that it's taxing. I used to drink a lot more when I was younger and I hated waking up and checking my wallet to find it completely empty, and then seeing multiple withdrawal bank statements. That, plus the physical hangover and I was full of regret. Not to mention all the other destructive avenues alcohol led me to for some time. I suppose it was a good experience in the sense that it taught me about the value of my health. I think that is my primary concern right now.
I have a few friends who drink and do drugs excessively. They will stay up for 2 to 3 days sometimes, funny thing is, most of them are really successful, but I can't imagine their bodies maintaining this level of damage for too long. We need healthy organs for the second half of our lives, more than we really care to think about when we are younger.
I should add that for now this is extra difficult because the wife isn't really speaking to me because of my NYE Shenanigans. Not so sure how long that will last which is having a compounding effect.

I didn't think I acted too much the fool but the depth of the silence treatment got me thinking I am forgetting something. We were all terribly bent though so the general drunkenness I am sure wasn't a pretty picture.
The problem is in the last 15 days I've been out drinking hard 8 times and 3 of them ended up not being a pretty picture.

Also realize I don't enjoy football as much without a brew in my hand.
I've also notice that sometimes you do some stuff just because it's a habit and part of a routine not so much because you have a burning desire to do it.
It is like a reflex to grab for a beer when lounging around the house on Sunday watching football.
I've also notice that I am developing a sweet tooth. I walked 8 blocks out the way this morning to get some krispee kreme donuts.

Had alcoholic brunch on the 1st, but ive been clean since then.
Problems: Sweet tooth like you said (goddammit, the body just wants a vice, doesn’t it).
Not drinking has been fine outside of just wanting to do so out of habit. Its saved my wallet a bunch even when I eat out. I do see myself crankier though; I figured the stress of my job would get me after a particular rough day. That hasn’t been the problem(cause its been a rough two weeks and each time I got home I didn't feel the urge) but I do think the stress of the job has been creeping into real life and the alcohol kept it at bay.
Like yesterday I had specific things I wanted to do but couldn’t because I invited someone and their lateness threw everything into a loop….still got to do some cool shit but I was pretty annoyed and I have a sneaking suspicion if I snuck a couple of beers in there everything would have been gravy (or if the work week wasn't as stressful).

I never drink alone and don't drink because I am having a hard time dealing with something. If it's a professional gathering I drink plenty without acting the fool.
My only problem is if I decide to go hard or get too excited (like old friends in town), there is no turning the switch off.
Binge drinking was fun while in school and in my younger party days, but I'm too old to be "that guy".
