"Female NYC subway conductor randomly beaten down by off duty NYPD cop" Sat Jan-03-15 12:29 PM by BigReg
I remember reading this when it first went down and thinking it was a shame before the post Fergurson shyamalan twist
*Turns back on MTA workers*
NYPD officer Mirjan Lolja turned himself in to a Harlem precinct this week after security camera footage of him fleeing a Bronx subway station, the scene of an alleged attack on an MTA employee, aired on the news.
Lolja reportedly attacked a female MTA worker around 2:30 a.m. on Dec. 23 who was on a platform of the East Tremont Avenue station announcing service changes. Apparently upset about the announcement, Lolja allegedly assaulted the woman, grabbing her from behind, throwing her to the floor, and choking her before fleeing. The woman was hospitalized for neck and back injuries

Even though they didn't identify themselves as cops. And they got away with it. I get what you're saying and I read the off duty part. But the police have 5 unions...they will get him a good lawyer and say whatever needs to be said to lighten his sentence/avoid prosecution...

This example demonstrates the seemingly pervasive attitude that de-escalation is not a priority.
I've had a verbal confrontation with MTA workers twice, both times, a bus driver and a station booth worker, tried to provoke me to become violent with them, "you sound like you want to fight" "try to hit me then". As soon as I explained that I'd rather file a grievance, then wait the 6 months for the hearing and actually show up, they changed their attitudes and tuned Trader Joe's cashier helpful-friendly.
