"Poll question: Gearheads: What kinda car should I get in 2015?"
Here's the situation:
The car I have is paid for and in running shape, so I'm not getting rid of it, but I am considering adding another whip to the fleet once we move back to the South Side since cabs and such are scarce and I'mma probably be driving to work more.
That said, I'd like something that got some bells and whistles to it, but ain't gonna break me every time I have to get an oil change or new tires. I'm partial to the Grand Cherokee even though I'm not a big fan of American cars (am I a fan of domestic car repair bills tho), but I"ve always wanted an Allroad. I have an XC90 now, so that's why I'd consider an XC60.
As for the 4Runner, it's big enough for family hauling, but still gives me my 4WD and truckishness that I appreciate.
But what do I know? I'm just tryna ride in style 'til 2025.

..the grand cherokee is probably the best investment in your poll, considering your listed criteria.
as a long time fan of the grand cherokee, i admit that the last few incarnations of this model were less than impressive and lazy. its nice to see that they've stopped following trends and truly invested in reestablishing the legacy of the brand.

If you get the black one with the chrome accents or the silver one you will feel pimp driving it. However the gas is horrendous on it. Other than that its a great suv.

rides smooth as hell and I think it's pretty good on gas compared to similar size cars. I got the Laredo...if I had to do it again I might upgrade to a Limited but that's mostly for internal stuff (Bluetooth and all that jazz). You can always add those things in after market though.

The Audi is in higher class IMO. If you're willing to pay the added cost of maintaining a German vehicle, it's worth it. If you're technically inclined you can do some of it yourself.
Also really like the xc90, not as fond of the latest design but the prior was solid. Really nice car.
Cherokee I'd put 3rd, or 4th with the 4runner. If you're looking to save $ over the long run I'd recommend these. 4 runner probably the most reliable. The jeep is maybe a bit nicer in terms of design, but the quality is still lacking compared to the European cars you listed.
Edit - my bad I see you put xc60 now. I don't like it as much as the 90. It seems like you have two different classes with 2 smaller wagons and 2 fairly large suvs.
You should think about how you're gonna be using the car and whether the extra space is worth it. Not just for gas but also that SUVs are much bigger vehicles and can be a pain in the ass to maneuver and handle at times. If you're climbing snowy hills and back roads, or lots of cargo for kids or something, then they might be worth it. Otherwise I'm sure the all road gives decent enough storage space and will be sure footed in winter conditions in city driving.
