As a result of all the other headlines we see daily.
But that is horrible to have an added reason to fear for your life. I don't know what it would take to raise the global IQ all at once, but it needs to happen soon.

Our current movement will not be successful until we stop the discrimination against women and the LBGT community. I was at a protest here in Philly, and the divisions amongst Black people are seriously hurting us.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/27/islan-nettles_n_5721874.html

It's been a year since Dolores Nettles rushed to the hospital and listened to her daughter's heart beat for the last time. Since then, she has been waiting for the results of an investigation into her daughter's death. Police say they're on the case, but Nettles is skeptical. "What's taking so long?" she asked. "I'm not really understanding what's really going on."

Nettles is the mother of Islan, the transgender woman who died on Aug. 17, 2013, after a group of men allegedly fought with her outside a police precinct in Harlem, a New York City neighborhood. The police initially brought assault charges against Paris Wilson, who allegedly delivered the blows that would eventually kill her. But authorities later dropped the charges, saying they intended to pursue the case as a homicide investigation.

....I feel that transgender folks need to be up front about who they are when dealing with heterosexual folks. Not everyone is cool with being fooled into dating someone who was born the same gender as they. I'm sure some folks are gonna get all hurt and throw attacks my way but I'm being real. You can't be deceiving folks and be surprised when they don't take well to the now exposed deception.

If dude was looking for transgendered folks to beat on, then you would have a point. Dude found out through a friend that he was dating a transgendered person and lost it. I don't condone beating someone to death over it but I'm not surprised that it happened. I've heard too many stories like this where dude in the relationship finds out he's dating someone who's transgendered and flips out. That's why I suggest transgendered folks be open from the jump in order to avoid this type of thing.

I don't see what you're talking about. It says they walked up and were flirting, realized they were trans and attacked.

Where do you see somethin about somebody dating and finding out later?

NOBODY deserves this to happen to themselves and you imply that it is almost okay because she didn't identify herself during the holleration.

Nah man, abuse ain't cool on ANY level. Why couldn't they say "ahhh yoiur a dude and WALK AWAY..." Walking away without doing physical harm is always a good idea.

with "While don't condone murder..."

bc anything prefaced with that statement is always almost always full of good ol fashioned diesel angry fuel...

u can do it

or make another half-assed apology and miss the point again...that's actually more effective than i thought

In response to Reply # 40

u are the one with the half-assed apology

i haven't said anything insensitive

dog, if you have to preface an argument about anything besides vigilantism with "While I don't condone murder..."

u are on the wrong side of the argument...

i understand your sick mind was delirious but it doesn't explain not only the complete ill characterization of what actually happened but you've only apologized for the mistake of that...rather than admitting that it's extremely insensitive and fucked up to suggest murder is anything other than a gross overreaction in any context

More understandable (glad to hear u don't condone murder....) if she had tricked them?

That seems to be what ur insinuating even after ur explanation and what ur boy Jon was consigning.

That's disgusting bullshit. Even if she did trick them (which after u used ur basic reading skills u see wasn't even the case) she didn't deserve to die for it

Many Black ppl passed for White, should they have been beat to death if discovered?

Would ur first thought or reply be if this had happened to A Blk person passing for Wht to say, I don't condone murder but they should be upfront ?

Any time someone's first reply to someone being murdered and the culprits getting off Scott free is some half baked qualifying or blaming the victim shit, Ima find that reply repulsive and idiotic

And that "u just want to be angry" shit is the most immature and patronizing bs ever, who wants to be angry? I sure don't, what I want is for ppl to be better human beings and show some compassion

...(when I mistakenly thought they were dating) transgendered folks can avoid cats flipping out if they were up front about their situation from the jump. I was essentially saying that they can weed out dealing with cats who would flip out and be ready to beat and/or kill them out of being deceived. Not once did I imply that transgendered folks deserve getting beat and killed yet everyone coming at my neck seems to think that way.

Once again, I'm sick (although I'm much better now compared to when I first posted) and it was the middle of the night. I was killing time while waiting to go back to sleep. I for some odd reason thought I saw something about them dating, thus my reason for my original comment. When I got on today, I realized my mistake and apologized for it. I don't know what else I can tell y'all. If my apology isn't accepted, then it's just not accepted. I can't do crap about that.

i agree that transgendered people should be more honest...but not as a way to avoid psychos...

combine this odd stance with the phrase "While I don't condone murder..."

and it seems you are implying that if they are dishonest it's understandable that psychos are gonna be psychos...

if a woman provocatively dressed gets murdered and some person chooses to focus on how she was dressed and throws in a "While i don't condone murder..." in there...how do u expect people to respond...

would those responses be justified?

sometimes you gotta self-monitor your own fucked up thoughts and stop getting mad at other people for trying to do it for u lol

And I agree, Ppl in general should be honest about who they are so the person they are dealing with can decide if they actually want to deal with them

And as a practical and safety issue (because unfortunately this isn't the first and probably not the last T-girl to be murdered like this) trans women should be completely forthcoming and MANY ARE from what I kno

But what ur saying still comes off like blaming the victim. The onus is on the other human being not to flip out but be an adult and say "I ain't with that" or "u lied and in done with u" and not get verbally or physically violent

I know this is not on the same "level" in most minds but that's akin (TO ME) to saying it was ok for Tonya to have stabbed Roy dead when she found out he was married yet been fucking her. Even Tonya cursing him out is not justified or adult compared to her just bouncing

But I do see u say the attack was not justified at all so that's the important thing but it'd be best IMO not to mix ur other arguments in with this case at all. It's an open forum tho....

In response to Reply # 39

cause if doesn't imply...

if u use that phrase bc you are too stupid to realize that you do sorta imply that it's "understandable" (even in the fictional case you made up ) then yea...u shouldn't have apologized bc that would mean you were insincere and only apologize for applying your idiocy to an instant that was different than the one u meant to apply it to

so basically...be less apologetic about your idiocy and realize that people are hurt or mad whenever you do so rather than trying to combat idiocy

i'm describing your words and behavior

i'm not mad at all...

hell, im mildly transphobic...

but u refuse to realize your mistake is not JUST not reading, or posting while delerious, or any of that...

it's your lack of understanding what your own words mean...

in what world does "While i don't condone murder" not imply that "...but in this made up instance...it's almost understandable"

people aren't twisting your words...u aren't holding yourself responsible for what they communicate

if that's not what you meant...that's fine...but u have yet to express anything to the contrary or that you even understand that what you expressed is mad ignorant even if the scenario fit

but continue to reply...it's only making you look smarter

This is horrible. And, I feel bad for her family. You are attracted to someone then you find out she was born a man. What right does that give you to beat that person to death? Be upfront... Why should someone tell you their life story just because you are attracted to them?

The arguments for making this ish okay or remotely feasible is bs! If you find out she was born a man and you are put off by it, leave her alone!

Now everything that leaves someone any degree bothered or uncomfortable gets some kind of crazy extreme punitive reaction.

Like, all that should've happened was riding out a moment of embarrassment or feeling a bit "eww" and gingerly dismissing yourself from the situation, and that's it.

Obviously you add in the presence of his boys and the fear of a tall tale version circulating around, growing more sensational each time and never living it down. In that sense, I understand how he could feel mortified and even perhaps angry, but still. Just deal with it like a person, not an animal.
