Shit, case Keenum is back in the pocket, SORRY!
My relative is on the ACTIVE roster for the Broncos now, I'm not going to call him "sorry" but I think Mike Sam is just as talented as my relly. I won't say talented but I guess just as "athletic".

Many of these guys get by on size/gentics moreso than talent/skill.

So yeah, I think Sam could be on some team's practice squad right today or hell, even play on special teams.

You really can't fuck up too much on special teams.

It wasn't just about the spectacle. It was good old fashioned homophobia from journalists, execs, coaches and some players. That's it. That's all.

uh, sam was very distinguished at the college level, i just think the doubts were about his transition to the pros. relative to his position he had a lot of accolades. no DE is winning the fuckin heisman.

on top of that, yeah, lots of players have said they played with gay teammates and that the guys on the team knew about it. warren sapp and charles barkley both said it. shit barkley said it fifteen fuckin years ago.

was there any legitimate reason to fear of this guy and what he might do or say? no.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Sam was beating up on bums.
And we know it.
They was playing teams like Arkansas Pine Bluff and Rolla College when he racked up like 7 sacks between those two games

My point there is simply that Sam was not cut bc he participated in media spectacle b4 he'd proved himself in the NFL as those 2 players did the same (and more) and weren't cut for it. Sam must've been cut for some other reason(s).

In response to Reply # 53

In general I agree with you but you're twisting to make this shit happen.

We all know QBs get waaaaaay more freedom to bask in the limelight than other players.

Try comparing Michael Sam's media attention to someone who played his position.

Was there homophobia? Yeah, but bringing up two media focal points who happen to play the rockstar position isn't that great of a comparison.

Manzeil was a little different. He wasn't the Browns first pick and well, its the Browns. They always fuck up their QB picks.

Sam was barely drafted and what other 7th rounder got 1st rd rockstar press???

This is also why Tebow fell out with his teams. When a 3rd string QB is getting media attention like Joe Montana after a SB victory it fucks up a locker room.

are getting. RGIII was okay during his stellar rookie season, but once he started playing close to the median, we began to hear a lot of talk about how he wasn't respected in the locker room. Manziel has all of 35 pass attempts and it appears his franchise has already lost faith in him.
Of course a lot of homophobic blowhards had a lot to say about Michael Sam's NFL entrance & exit, but if he was capable of making an NFL team markedly better I believe he would be playing right now.

sports. Michael Sam showed early on that he wasn't looking to be a part of that. There are people with more football talent than him, that aren't getting opportunities because their mere presence would be seen as disruptive to team chemistry.

Michael Sam, the first openly gay player drafted by an NFL team, told Oprah Winfrey that he still dreams of playing in a regular season game and that he is not the only homosexual in pro football.

In his first interview since disclosing his homosexuality early this year, Sam described childhood abuse by his two brothers, and expressed surprise that other players in the National Football League were not inspired to come out as gay after his announcement.

"There's a lot of us out there," the defensive end said in the interview, part of an Oprah Winfrey Network documentary that aired Saturday. "I'm not the only one. I'm just the only one who's open."

Sam was the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Year as a senior at the University of Missouri before graduating in December 2013.

The following February, before the NFL Draft, he announced he was gay. In May he was picked up by the St. Louis Rams in a late round of the draft.

The Rams cut him in August, but he was immediately picked up by the Dallas Cowboys practice team, only to be cut in October.

"There was nothing I could do," he said Saturday. "The roster was full already and I had to go."

After he came out, Sam heard from "a few" gay players who privately thanked him for his disclosure and said they wished they had that courage, he said.

Sam also reflected on a childhood filled with turmoil, bullied by two brothers whom he believes he will eventually forgive. "I was abused daily," he told Winfrey.

He recalled one incident in seventh grade, when his older brother broke his Most Valuable Player trophies out of jealousy.

Upon graduating college, he said, his mother handed him a letter from one of his brothers, but he chose not to read it.

"They made my life very difficult growing up," he said.

Sam said he would hold on to his dream of playing in the NFL during the regular season "as long as I can."

Asked whether he believes he's not on a team right now because of his homosexuality, Sam said, "I don't like to think that way."

"I believe good things are on the horizon."

I (and maybe you too) can't really relate becuz i never had a family member do me dirty or abuse me or make me feel abuse

Maybe if I had went thru something like that I would understand airing shitty family members out. I have empathy for anyone who says they were tormented and respect their right to handle the way they see fit

In response to Reply # 0

did but it takes another level of talent to stay and compete at that highest level.

and he don't have it.

if he was more talented, the gay part of the story wouldn't be that much of a story.

if jadaveon clowney had come out the closet before being drafted, you woulda had EVERY nfl team dying to get his ass on their team. you would have every nfl fan hoping their team had a chance to get him. cuz THAT guy is just that good.

michael sam ain't that good...

That weren't that good that made it further than Sam. I think Sam was given a fair shot ( although I do think teams not wanting to deal with the added attention of a gay player lead to him being drafted lower than he should have and probably some anti-gay sentiment in there as well) but he didn't show and prove enuff to make the Rams squad or move from the Cowboys PS plus the fact that he was going out of his way to soak up all the media attention I'm sure didn't help his case

But to insinuate hes worst than some of the other duds in the league is a bit off the mark

He sealed his own fate yes but a lot of other duds got further

In response to Reply # 45

position that is rare. if you have marginal talent, but you play a position where it's not that many of you, you got a good chance of earning a check for a while.

but he's a linebacker. and LBs are plentiful. and he's way too slow to be an effective LB on a pro level.

all i'm saying is that's why he's not playing. him being gay has nothing to do with it.

i been a Cowboys fan since '79. he never got off our practice squad for good reason. you can't name A SINGLE PLAYER ahead of him that he was better than.

like you said, he had his shot. he was given a fair chance and he competed but he didn't get it done.

so now he's done.

him being gay had nothing to do with it.

i challenge you to name an NFL LB currently active on a roster that MS is better than.

what people need to know is that very few football fans are gonna turn down a guy that can help their ball club just cuz he gay. if JJ Watt said he was gay, the texans wouldnt get rid of him and if they did, every other team in the league would be lining up to get him.

MS not playing in the NFL aint about gay. it's about talent/skill...

>him being gay had nothing to do with it.

This is really naive, and I'm not saying him being gay was even close to being the primary reason but to say it has NOTHING to do with it doesn't recognize reality. There are still plenty of str8 men who don't feel comfortable being around gay men, let alone sharing a locker room with them. when u think about team chemistry versus what a player is bringing to the team on the field, teams are constantly looking at pros and cons. Look at the Redskins and Browns this season and the convos are rgIII, josh Gordon and Percy harvin getting bounced from the Seahawks or front offices feeling like certain players are too much of a distraction

He'd still have a spot but some teams wouldn't want to deal with an openly gay player, for various reasons. I mean just about two years ago Chris culliver was making his feelings known about having a gay teammate on a national platform

he can't play ST's and he can't drop into coverage.

no one is going to keep a roster spot for a tweeter who can't contribute on ST's.

Only way he sticks with a team is if he bulks up and turns into a sack artist.

But this interview may have sealed his fate. I hope he was paid well for it because he may never get a call from another team.

In response to Reply # 45

the thing that kills his ability to make a team. if you are a light in the ass defensive end, you can maybe play STs and get some burn as a situational pass rusher.

but if you are too small to play on the line. and too slow to play linebacker. wtf are teams gonna do with you? an aging slow ass linebacker may play on 1st and 2nd down because they've demonstrated savvy or leadership or some intangible shit that mitigates their physical shortcomings.

but a bottom of the roster type cat has GOT to be able to play special teams. there aren't too many slow players who are not linemen who stick around with marginal skills.

the circus shit certainly ain't help him. i think his shot w/ dallas was prolly fair. nobody was really talking about him like that on them. their defense was decimated. but they just got finished starting a rookie in their last game at MLB.

>But to insinuate hes worst than some of the other duds in the
>league is a bit off the mark

its some bum ass mfers in the league, true. i should have mentioned that backup qbs are the other position where you can be slow as fuck and not contribute on ST.

>He sealed his own fate yes but a lot of other duds got further

the media did concoct a lot of this nonsense. like they did with tebow. granted, very different situations, but it wasn't too long ago where fans (largely evangelicals who has 'annointed the broncos') were demanding that tebow start and causing mad headaches.

the risks were nowhere near what the media made them out to be (players don't give a fuck, they'll have your back if you winning and they all getting money). but the rewards were really miniscule, too.

this is why damn near everyone but the most dysfunctional nfl franchises decline to host Hard Knocks. the league is hard enough w/o no unnecessary bullshit.

peace & blessings,

DRY snitching is indirectly telling something unintentionally

how the fuck can someone agree to do an interview unintentionally?

what is he saying that we already dont know?

people like you need to stop trying to sound cool and stick to the words/phrases you know.

And example of Dry Snitching is when Kobe snitched on Shaq.

OR

When someone gets caught doing something and work by a manager and they respond with "Well, if So-and-So can do it why can't I do it too."

again tread lightly when they talk about teams, they eventually want back in the league and never know who may want them.

he will never be back in the league.

he should have just focused on becoming a better player, possibly changing position and becoming just another teammate, not the gay teammate.

Tebow found out. The spectacle coupled with limited talent will lead you right out the league.

let it shine through!!!!!!
