I remember when this took place almost like it was yesterday.

This was one of those moments when you was watching it, you realized as you were witnessing it, right then and there, right in front of you, that something special and big was happening that was about to make the music turn a serious corner (for the better, for the most part).

I.e., a welcomed change had arrived.

This was the performance that led to me buying 'Baduizm' and becoming a fan. Her and D'Angelo were the only R&B artists I fucked with at the time.

I used to watch Rap City and Planet Groove religiously in those days.
This now has me wanting to see that Maxwell episode where he was being interviewed
and said he's "half Boricua".
