"OKP makes the call: couples trip w/the immediate family."
the immediate fam is planning a vacay this summer. everybody who's going is coupled and bringing their significant other. i'm the only single person invited. the trip is kinda expensive - a Caribbean cruise. deposit(s) need(s) to be paid by like February 2015.
oh...on the sig other tip - no boyfriend currently and none on the horizon w/whom i'd get serious enough to take on this kind of trip.

In multiple combinations you'd be the third wheel. Unless the spouses aren't attached at the hip and you could go explore some islands with a family member one on one. Still...I'd bail.
I was in the same boat (pun intended) a couple of months ago. I hung out with the couples when I wanted and made myself scarce when I didn't want to be bothered. I had a grand ole time.

Hell I just went on one with my husband and his parents and was bored out of my mind. If it's just a regular cruise, depending on the cruise line it will be mostly older people or couples with children. It's just not a good way of traveling overall. Depends on what your goal is. If it's just spending time with family, then go. Not to mention the first time I went on one my airline made me miss the boat, but the actual cruise was fun cause there were no days at sea. The one I went on a month ago was severely delayed by fog so one of the 2 destinations were canceled. Excursions were canceled for the destination we did go to.

and their spouses or significant others? I'd think as long as you get along with your family it shouldn't be a big deal.
Most family trips are like that for me because my sisters have been married forever and I'm single and rarely bring anybody I'm dating around my family, lol
