"ppl who have given birth : what shld i put in my hospital bag?"

i'm 30 weeks tomorrow and i need this bag packed asap for my sanity
i am a particular person (to put it lightly) and i dont wanna have the babies in the car because i take forever dictating what to grab to my husband

i bought three new tank tops and three pairs of cute socks
i am looking for a short robe that i can breastfeed in after they are born
i am writing my granola birth plan this week
i need a play list
cookies or something for the nursing staff
what else?
my bradley method teacher recommended something for soft lighting
will they let me deliver in my own clothes?
what wld i be most comfortable in?
ummmmmmmmmmmm

i mean i give a fck but i don't give that much of a fck

i don't really think i went all out with this
i knew i wanted to be comfortable
i just packed some comfortable pjs that would be easy to nurse in, something that wraps in the front is fine, or actually just a lose tank top fitting pjs. a nursing bra, i was able to buy one at the hospital and it was the same price as online. i really recommend the brand anita.

i had clothes to go home in and one or two outfits for him to leave the hospital in. i don't know how your hospital is but ours gave us tons of baby blankets, diapers and even onesies. we ended up not really needing most of what we were told to pack. however, k was born in the summer and it's cold as hell there so you'll be packing so much more.

nipple pads and nipple cream
they gave me a free breast pump, like a tiny plastic one but i used that throughout the first 8 months. you might want an industrial once since you're feeding two.

oh i had my laptop there but my room ended up having tv with cable, lol. and my hospital food was actually pretty good. honestly you'll be so tired you'll probably just sleep.

i can't really think of much else.

pads--the big thick ones
full brief drawls
soft comfortable shoes
nursing bra/nursing pads
socks
books
my phone charger
baby's go home outfit
baby's hospital pictures outfit
$12 money order for the baby's Birth Certificate
camera + extra sd card
batteries for my camera
Pajamas
Pajamas that looked like lounge wear that could be worn home
I also brought my laptop

the one thing I left home was lotion...my god mother bought me the biggest bottle of Jergan's I had ever seen...I actually just finished using it a few months ago (4 years later)

*edit* my mom actually brought an empty bag with her as she would empty out the cart everytime they would bring the baby in.

and perhaps a blunt for afterwards?

that shit is like... the most intense relay race there is. i was running around the room nonstop catching comment and holding hands and bringing water and wiping forehead and face.

all the while trying not to vomit and cry in horror.

luckily the labor was quick. try to bowchickawowow the night before. worked like a charm. spent one hour watching her breakdance.

I was stuck at the hospital with no toothbrush, no deodorant, and no lotion because we were focused on her stuff.

Oh, and pack an extra bag for all the stuff you're gonna get while you're there (gifts, kid supplies, etc.).

We walked out with two big ass garbage bags of stuff because we only packed for coming and not going.

The hospital only covers your meals, so when the food comes to the room, ain't gonna be shit for him lest you loan a couple of fries or a bite of your sandwich.

If you're putting in special orders for outside food (see: sushi), make sure you get enough for him too.

We spent three days in that hospital and I only took one shower and ate two meals. 110% of your needs are taken care of, 0% of his are.

but i usually would go down to the cafe and get us whatever was the hot plate of the day
which would be different from what they were serving in the rooms
well, it would be the same stuff but MORE choices if you walked down to the cafe.

of course, when them bills started rolling in they was hittin us over the head for $9.95 for each additional meal we ordered

But whatever your "manicuring" regiment is, do it BEFORE you go to the hospital. Like a week before your due date. I forgot and was practically scalped by and old Egyptian woman in front of my MIL. It was so embarrassing.

yeah they will give you an endless supply of their 85 thread count quick dry towels
but we like the softness and familiarness of our home washed towels

just pack like you're going on a weekend vacation
just dont take so many outfits
i'd say 2-3 sweatsuits
and two cute outfits
1. for the day when your "big group" of family will come thru (you want to be cute and pretty for all the pics)

2. for the day you are paroled (gotta be fly for all the popparazzi that will be outside them glass doors)

also, what was said above YOUR HUSBAND NEEDS STUFF TOO

and most importantly of all CELLPHONE AND DIGICAM CHARGERS

cannot stress that enough

But I was in the hospital this summer and I'm a gadget fiend
But I figure with a photo happy husband btwn the two of you and visitors
Things are going to need charging
I had two phones and a ipad to charge
There simply weren't enough outlets (or outlets within reach) so
Travel outlet/extension cord
http://officesupplygeek.com/office-electronics/outlets-to-go-portable-extension-cord-expander-and-usb-charger/
Had mine from my trip to LA
And that thing came in handy esp for visitors
