13. "I just realized I think I met her when I was a kid" In response to Reply # 0
There was this private school down the street from my school. This was in Mineola NY on Long Island.
The school was so small they didn't have their own bus transport, so our bus would leave our school and scoop a few kids from this school then head to our neighborhood. One day we pull up and we see Darryl Strawberry standing in the parking lot picking up his kids. This was 1988 or 1989. The whole bus started screaming its head off, ran off the bus and ran up to Darryl. He smiled at us but didn't sign any autographs or anything. He said hello to us and asked if we were watching/rooting for the Mets this year. Its not like we had a camera and we left our book bags on the bus so nobody cared we just saw Darryl freaking Strawberry. His kids were walking to the car and getting in when we pulled up but they were looking out the window with a "gosh not again" look on their face. It was a boy and a girl. I think Darryl had like 5 kids so I'm not sure if the one I met was this girl.
Anyway I met Darryl again at his restaurant years later and brought the story up to him. He had a good laugh about it. Also met another son at the restaurant.

He looked bad, kinda like when I saw Rick James.
His kid (DJ, the basketball player) went to our rival middle school and was the only kid in the district that could rival my sneaker game. Fuck him, he was cheating lol. Nice kid though and obviously a helluvan athlete.
