"Interracial Lovers: Does your house decorum lean one way?"


  

          

GROOVEPHI's response in the does your child have white friends post got me thinking about the times I've been to a intercultural couple's house, let's say in this instance white + black, and their home is extra Black in the choice of artwork (Black Moses etc.) and other decor.

Have you found it to be the case couples go neutral, combine both, or lean one way or the other?

and we basically agreed on EVERYTHING from tiles to cabinet to kitchen to couch

well we HAD to, but it turned out being easy

she was telling the trini dude who is helping us build the kitchen the blue backsplash she wanted to look 'Caribbean' and I was like, hmm let me find out you got hidden biases

Of course the Trini dude loved the 'Caribbean' comment

So 9 times out of 10, I just let her pick what she wants to do. I don't know if that makes our place look "white" or not. It looks like a normal spot to me.

Her way.

Most of the main decorative pieces on display belong to her.

However, it's not really in a culturally or racially biased way.

I just let her do her thing with what we both have and what she wants to pick up. I trust her taste, and I know she knows what I like.

not sure that leans any one way in particular.

downstairs is a framed miles poster and a framed, autographed poster from the 2 street festival (anyone familiar with Richmond, VA likely knows what this is). so i guess downstairs leans more Black. but shit, the miles print is mine and the 2 street festival print my wife got from her former white supervisor haha.
