brief recap: she got evicted last week i offered to store her things in my garage. she agreed she'd pay me x-amount. i've been getting the runaround ever since.
she was supposed to be coming by with it after 10 on tuesday -no call/no show nothing yesterday, altho she went to her dad's
i intended to shoot her a text this morning asking when she intends to retrieve her things she texts me instead saying "i haven't forgotten about you... i'll be at my daddy's at 11:30... i'm getting my things sat"
i reply, "o like you had me last week? and the other night? your things need to be out sat."
my text wasn't necessary, but it was.
this girl accuses me of not being an understanding friend, and how i know she's been working, and she can't believe after all we've done for one another that i'm coming at her like this.
*blink* *looks at camera* *scratches nose* *blink*
but if it must be said -you're broke and in your to-do toy don't mention taking care of your kids because your dad has been doing that you had over $1000 a little over a week ago but you don't believe in paying what you owe. but your shit? it gotta put on track shoes.
now she's texting "i'm still going to do what i said i was no problem" like what the fuck happened where you no longer thought you were obligated to? hahaha. bitches.
How you gonna compassionately charge somebody that can't pay their rent to store their evicted belongings inside your garage?? That's like dry water yo....
Let that woman's belongings cook. You ain't using your garage anyway. Don't give me that "It's the principle" either.... It's not.. It's about you...being an awesome person and helping someone out in their time of need. Do that. .

HIM? i'll help. i already told him if he needed help with the kids' homework i'm available a couple hours after school. but HER? kick rocks.

This kind of suggests you were the proverbial turtle giving a scorpion a ride to the other side of the stream. 2-3 years seems like enough time to know this ex-friend was a scorpion so now that you've offered her this ride and she's stung you in the middle of the stream you're like "girl wtf!? why did you sting me!??" and she's all "Don't act brand new, you knew I was a scorpion!"
Now that you're in the shit seems like you might as well ride it out with class and not lash out at her for being who she seems to have always been. It will make you a better person in the long run anyway, which is way more valuable. Who knows-- you may in the future have a similar situation with someone you actually want to carry on with and you'll be better prepared.

of course she can't pay you because she's broke and unhoused, no matter how much money she has or had she's still unstable. Asking for money from a homeless person with kids seems like a fools errand and not exactly altruistic not matter how it's sliced. I can see charging to make sure she came and got her stuff so she didn't think she could leave it there forever, but nothing about this person's past actions show any evidence that this would work out any other way. It's been a week. People typically aren't stable one week after an eviction, even if they manage to find a place to lay their head.

I'm saying it is unrealistic to believe that an evicted person under any circumstance would be reliable, stable, and pay up after a week under the best circumstances, let alone a person like this girl who is notoriously irresponsible and puts her shit on you.
Even if she said she would, you know that she is not reliable because of her past actions. The woman doesn't feed her kids sometimes for Christ stake but she'll honor an agreement with you? That makes no sense. Entering into an agreement with someone who you know is not capable of fulfilling said agreement is not exactly altruistic.
The very fact that she was evicted lets you know that she doesn't have the ability to follow through, be responsible, or direct her future with good decisions... so surprise, surprise a week goes by and her shit is still at your house. At a certain point it's like getting mad at an elephant for having a trunk. You know all about her... and are mad that she's doing what she does, even though you knew how she was.

Because her drama is now your drama because you let it be, maybe with the best intentions, but by your own choice to deal with this raggity woman and get exploited in her never ending drama. Holding her responsible would have been not helping her for the 50th time and instead letting her feel the full consequences of her actions. That's different than offering help, she walks all over you, you mad, she gets her stuff when she feel like it, has another drama... wash rinse repeat...she doesn't learn nothing. You cant hold her shit/rescue her and hold a mirror to her at the same time. You gotta pick one or the other.
She chose you because she knows she can walk all over you and the consequences aren't that deep, which she knows because she's used you in the past and you're still came back for more. Everyone else in her life probably cut her off a long time ago because of this very nonsense you're dealing with. Don't enable her bad behavior and get your pressure up.
If her shit was at a storage place, if she didn't pay they'd be holding her shit hostage and charging her interest and late fees. Eventually they'd sell her shit. From you she get's angry calls. Which one is better equipped to hold her accountable if that's the goal?
i thought she paid you the money but was late on picking her stuff up. which seems kind of annoying but not that bad. but if she made a point to pay you. then didn't pay you. AND still hasn't picked up her stuff. that's really shitty.

Your "friend" simply needs to get her belongings from your garage and place them somewhere else. I believe she took advantage of your kindness as well as took your friendship for granted. Based on everything you have shared, you may have to charge her to the game. I hope her children do not have to suffer too much. Last..you may want to not do certain friends certain favors, especially involving money, unless they act in good faith by breaking bread first. I hope everything will work outhere for the best.
