A "Standardized" test is precisely what it implies. A standard has been chosen based on the sociopolitical and socioeconomic agenda; to create an individual with the right set of skills to be a "productive" member of society. Each nation has its own standardized test.
This system is flawed, and it has impacted education, which is flawed as well. Human beings are not taught how to be human, we are taught how to be workers. A young child may have strong artistic/musical intent, with a deep passion to explore expression and consciousness. Science only explores consciousness from a material point of view, therefore, right from the onset that child will struggle with the sciences unless it is infected with curiosity of the physical world. Unfortunately, it may impact their future in a negative way.
A person should have the freedom to explore what to study, as opposed to being forced to study "pre-requisites". When I was younger I had no desire to learn physics and these days, in my almost mid 30s, that is sometimes all I think about. Education is a life long process.
I did not receive good grades in Physics when I was in high school and it had nothing to do with my "intelligence" level, but everything to do with my interest/passion level. We do have a right to express the self, and unfortunately, society in as much only caters to the self with consumerism, and not much else.
There are no dumb people on the planet. There are simply unique versions of the uncultivated self. There are also no talented people on this planet. Talent is the result of passion, dedication, and hard work. If you live your life by labeling aspects of your humanity by what society provides you with, you will forever live in a shadow of your very self.
Infect people with curiosity and the self will do the rest.
