Here are a few random shots I've taken around Pittsburgh. I'm a bad photographer, but I thought some of these offered interesting glimpses of the city:

what i love most abt his photos is how they show the character of the city the way it can change block to block the nature vs city stuff he makes me look at buildings in a whole different light its not just like 'let me take a photo of some tall bldngs' dude is amazing

43. "chicago park district....." In response to Reply # 40
its a public space, right off the lakefront and steps away from the bean and millenium park
the giant jungle gym is a quote/unquote DONATION for the general contractors, was flown in piece by piece from germany. if you check the livefeed security camera on weekends, you could watch grown folks climb up there and get shitfaced cuz the security fence is shit...lol
its a pet project since it is being named after former mayor daleys late wife, Maggie

Like I said this city makes it easy. Being new does too. Whenever I'm back in nyc I don't take as many pics because it feels weird sometimes like I'm a tourist. If I was from sf I might not take as many pics either. When you inviting me to one of those parties lol.

i went there in june and i was surprised it was so chill. the beach was empty and the attractions there were cool. i'm thinking about making that a yearly trip.

but fell in love with the place. So many friends have moved away only to return a few years later. Like you said, just a chill relaxed city. People don't really care about status, most just want to enjoy nature and the beach. I've been here since 2000 and it has yet to get old and I still find new things. Which is crazy, it's not that big and I wander a LOT.

part of me was thinking "i wonder how many shoes i could get from that gator" and the other part of me was thinking "what kind of jurassic park shit is this??"
So the wildest life I saw was raccoons, deer and one time a bobcat.
I moved down here and there was a bear found in a neighborhood maybe 10 min. from my our house. I saw a pack of vultures eating a dog carcass IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD! Panthers have eaten lord knows how many pets. There was that escaped monkey literally lived free around town for about a year. And some old lady woke up to find a gator thrashing around in her kitchen one morning.
And those wolf spiders in that pic? It's no odd thing to find one in the crib. It's so common that even my girl doesn't flip when she sees one. She'll roll up a magazine or get the flyswatter.

You live here too? I grew up in Ohio myself. (Springfield)
Fortunately wolf spiders in the house aren't that common...maybe once a year. Most memorable being after my wife finished washing her hands one crawled out of the drain. Amazingly she took it in stride like your girl does. They can get massive (size of a hand) though so killing them is a mess. I usually try to catch and release.
Unfortunately black widows are really common outside our house so I have to double check everything I grab.
A panther was living in the woods across the street. My roommate was taking the trash out at night and it was standing in the street a few feet away watching before walking back in the woods. It's been a few years since anyone's spotted it lately though.
A friend had a bear walking down the street in her neighborhood. That was a mile away. Probably the same area you're thinking of. (The Shores)
On a more peaceful note there's an area called porpoise point where I've been splashed by dolphins they were so close to shore. I probably see them there about 50% of the time. (Usually not that close though.)

^^^ Yup. That's why it was so shocking the 1st time we saw one. Those bad boys are huge.

The dolphins are awesome. We went kayaking with some friends and at one point, we were just floating along & letting the current push us along. A dolphin came right up to the side of the kayak. Stuck his head out and looked at us for a sec. Then he proceeded to jump up out of the water a few times all around us before swimming off. It was one of the coolest things I ever saw.
