"yo how come yall aint tell me about kratom"
Sun Dec-07-14 04:52 AM by Madvillain 626

this stuff is ridiculous. Comes from a tree in Southeast Asia. Available in the West cuz the internet. Still LEGAL.

You can eat it straight up and wash it down, make tea, or smoke it. In small doses you feel upbeat and euphoric, in large doses it's basically on opiate.

Not habit forming unless you do it everyday.

Apparently it mixes very well with weed. I'm bout to find out!

If you into that kinda stuff, check it out here. http://www.mmmspeciosa.com/ Best stuff available, ships in 2-3 days.

mostly indonesia and thailand

usually comes in powder form or in capsules. you can smoke it (don't), make a tea with it or just toss it and wash it down (it's gross but manageable)

in low doses (teaspoon to tablespoon) it's euphoric and stimulating like a very mild version of MDMA. you'll get "in the zone" when researching stuff, and it makes you want to socialize. great for anxiety.

in high does, it's basically like opium. sedative, narcotic, relaxing.

the bad? it can cause nausea, do too much and it's puke city. water helps.

it can make you constipated and some have reported have trouble finishing when fuckin.

You CAN get addicted to the shit but eventually you run out and gotta order more, and it's not expensive but not cheap either.

Not regulated or banned by the US, but it is on a list of "Drugs and Chemicals of Concern"

It's like Caffeine basically. It's a drug but not considered a drug but it can be addictive but it IS awesome. Mixed with weed? GOD DAMN I FEEL AMAZIN, DAMN I'M IN THE MATRIX (c) Kenny Lamar

cop some here. http://www.mmmspeciosa.com/ cop a sample of the classic bali for 6 bucks and see what you think

withdrawals do suck. similar to opiate withdrawals... been through both. nothing dramatic, but you'll feel completely empty, and miserable. basically the exact opposite of how this makes you feel.

matter of fact it's used by people trying to get off opiates

i like it more for it's stimulating effect, which kicks in at low doses. The amount you need to get that opiate-like buzz is not what I like at all...

I'm more into the focus angle of it

I cant tell where I am on the spectrum. I boiled 1.5 cups of water + a measured teaspoon of bali classic

that amount should be on the focus end of the spectrum

however I don't feel focus, it feels like I took a decent toke off a joint....I feel something kinda, music is sounding pretty good, I'm definitely aware of my personal space

but it also feels like i just had a cup of coffee

I almost want to have a second cup, I definitely like where this is going.....

39. "So...final verdict. I really like it, BUT"
In response to Reply # 38

I really want to do it again

but I'm not sure about the dosage. I was definitely feeling pretty gravy as fuck throughout the day. Definitely felt the talkative angle to it.

I would actually like to try the deeper side of it as well a pulling the dosage back a bit so I can find a balance for focus.

Next I will try a 1/2 tsp to see how that lands me in a place where I'm not feeling high

The thing I didnt like was the upset stomach, my belly was doing some flips throughout the day. I eventually ate and that helped but I was still feeling it in my stomach.

Overall I can imagine become good friends with Kratom.

In response to Reply # 50

if you don't break through, you'll have some effects but it'll be more of a tease. if you do, WHOA, that shit is crazy, man. like you know that scene in the matrix where neo learns all types of languages and forms of combat in a matter of seconds? it's like that. all these ostensibly incomplete thoughts, ideas and messages run across your mind at once. you couldn't repeat them or even hear them in the amount of time that it happens, but you somehow understand them. then it kind of slows and glides to a pace where you *can* understand your inner monologue. me and my buddy (who does this shit a lot) both heard women's voices singing, which was an odd coincidence. i can remember for a second i had a negative thought and it just steered right back to positivity. it was a great experience. doing it with my GF was different, mostly i was concerned for her. i didnt break through hard, kinda halfway and we watched the sunset over the caribbean go fucking crazy. it was fun but different, and she definitely broke through. she was cooked afterwards, really tired.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

1) No. Drug tests do not test for kratom.

2) About 12 hours? 36 hours at the longest.

low doses are basically like coffee without the jitters and more sociability. It wouldn't be a bad idea to hit a teaspoon of powder before work. You'll be the most talkative dude in the office and you'll be in the fuckin ZONE while working.

he told me it was like mushrooms and e with sort of a vicodin vibe. sounded weird to me. he offered me some but i declined. it was in a capsule, i dunno, looked like some sort of root or bark ground into a capsule but maybe i am misremembering that part.

since i have no scale I've had to resort to using kitchen level measuring spoons.

my first dose was a full teaspoon. thats the opening threshold for feeling the opiate effects

so i decided to cut the dose down to half a teaspoon.

ive just boiled the powder o make a tea

so today I deciced to mix a half teaspoon dose with a packet of emergen-c

I think this is magic bullet.

the emergen c pefectly masks the flavor and it potentiates the kratom

its definitely helping me focus up while i work on weekends

add tea or coffee and I'm rocking out

half a teaspoon + packet of emergen-c

i dont feel any high or buzz or jitters

this goes well with coffee and tea

what has been interesting is that as an ex smoker I know what it feels like to have your reward sensors tickled

even though I am not getting "high" on kratom I feel my reward sensors being tickled....hard to explain but I can see how one can become hooked

if you haven't tried it yet, pick up 25g or so of the tropical borneo from mmmspeciosa. Pain relieving + mood uplifting. All the soreness in my legs from dancing last night is gone and I feel happy and alert as shit.

cannabis sativa + a good uplifting kratom strain will give you a level of euphoria only matched by busting rawdog, LSD, MDMA, and catching the holy ghost.

going to see if a mellow amount of kratom will help me break my habit.

so far so good. my go to at the very end of the day is the bottle (beer or wine)

I want to see how my body will change if I give up drinking all the time.

What's Kratom? Parents Claim the Drug Drove Son to Suicide

Beth Greenfield

Senior Writer

May 20, 2015

The parents of a University of Georgia student who committed suicide earlier this month are now speaking out about it — specifically about an unregulated drug called Kratom they say their son John Eden was addicted to, in an aim to save others from the same tragic fate.

“I had a feeling he was on the ledge, and next thing I know I get a knock on my door from a sheriff,” mom Lauren Eden tells Yahoo Parenting, through tears. He told her that John, who was a 22-year-old junior in the Navy Intelligence program, had shot himself while sitting in his truck on May 3.

In the months leading up to that day, she says, her son had come to her and asked for help with what he called an addiction to the substance, which he had initially turned to for his anxiety. She had looked into rehab programs, “but no one had never heard of Kratom,” she recalls. “And at that point we didn’t know where to turn.”

Lauren, who also has a 25-year-old daughter with her husband John, shared her son’s suicide note during an interview with WSBTV. “‘Mom and Dad, I loved you very much,’” she read. “‘Please know there was nothing you could do. I tried everything. I’ve ruined myself with drugs.”

She said he was referring to an age-old Asian herbal supplement called Kratom, which can be used as either a stimulant or a sedative depending on the dosage, and which is made from the leaves of a tree that’s native to Thailand, Malaysia, and Burma. Though a spike in usage has led to recent bans in just a handful of states, including Tennessee and Indiana, it’s not federally regulated and is easy to purchase online. Bags of Kratom, Lauren says, were found in her son’s apartment.

So how dangerous is it? That depends on whom you talk to. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has placed it on its list of Drugs and Chemicals of Concern (in the same company as bath salts and the cough suppressant DXM). “It means it’s not scheduled but is one we’re aware there’s been issues with,” DEA special agent Joseph Moses tells Yahoo Parenting, noting they’ve had reports of Kratom related psychosis. “It’s more for public awareness.”

When ingested in low doses, typically as a tea or pellets, notes the DEA fact sheet on Kratom, the drug, which can be addictive, can cause increased alertness and physical energy. At higher doses, users experience sedative effects.

In addition, the fact sheet states, “Several cases of psychosis resulting from use of Kratom have been reported, where individuals addicted to Kratom exhibited psychotic symptoms, including hallucinations, delusion, and confusion. Withdrawal effects include symptoms of hostility, aggression, mood swings, runny nose, achy muscles and bones, and jerky movement of the limbs.”

In 2014, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced it had seized more than 25,000 pounds of raw Kratom (mitragyna speciosa) from a California warehouse, issuing a warning that the drug can have “pharmacological effects similar to morphine and other opiates.” The seizure, a spokesperson noted, “was taken to safeguard the public from this dangerous product, and FDA will continue to take aggressive enforcement actions against products that are promoted for uses that are unapproved.”

Although she knew her son had begun taking the drug, John’s mother Lauren admits, “I thought it was harmless. He bought it online.” (Indeed, a quick search for purchasing Kratom brings up many options, including a site offering eight different types for prices ranging from $45 to $78 per 4-ounce packet.)

Last year, the family of a Denver man named Guy Garcia, 36, spoke out about the drug after a seizure that killed him, apparently triggered by a Kratom overdose. Garcia’s death certificate, said his mom, listed “apparent acute mitragynine toxicity” as cause of death — a reference to Kratom’s chemical compound, mitragynine. The drug was also blamed (but not confirmed) in the deaths of several others, including a 31-year-old Montana woman and a teenage boy in Florida named Ian Mautner. “He became argumentative; his eyes would roll back in his head. He was delusional at times. He was not the same person,” his mother, Linda Mautner, told CBS Miami last year.

Florida lawmakers are now in the process of attempting to ban the drug in that state, and it’s already illegal Tennessee, Indiana, Vermont, and Wisconsin. But the efforts have ignited a seemingly small but vocal faction of Kratom supporters who say it has important health benefits. They’ve started online petitions, spoken at legislative hearings, and formed coalitions in an effort to keep it legal.

The Botanical Legal Defense, for example — which has a website, albeit with no biographical details about its organizers — is “dedicated to fighting over-reaching government criminalization of nature’s most significant gifts. Chief among these is Mitragyna speciosa (aka Kratom), a natural analgesic, muscle relaxer, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant.” The herbal supplement, the website explains, has been “widely misrepresented as dangerous and without medical value, when the truth is that is has already been under the scrutiny of the scientific community and has been found to be not only benign, but highly therapeutic.” A series of Reddit threads on the pros and cons of Kratom contain, along with warnings of its potency, first-person accounts of how the drug was beneficial.

Still, John’s parents say they will not back down with their message. “I’m talking about our young people,” Lauren says. “This has to become illegal — or at least something that is only prescribed to someone under a doctor’s care.”

Dude killed himself not because of his DEPRESSION, but the herb that took that alleviated the symptoms.

I've struggled with depression and kratom hasn't induced any suicidal tendencies as of yet.

if this dude used sex or food to make himself feel better and eventually killed himself anyway, should we rally to ban those?

This story is countered by the tons of people who couldn't get out of bed or were miserable at work every day before they found kratom.

Anything can be abused. Every up has a down. Our body's represents 100,000 years of evolution so you there is always a risk when messing with that natural chemistry if it's working the way it's suppose to be.

But I'll try anything once (or twice)...except butt sex.

I have not seen a single thing anywhere that differentiates the effect this drug has from any opium derivative. And opiate addicts are using it to get high. That tells me it's dangerous.

Anyone here have experience with Oxy or heroin that have also tried this? People keep saying 'you can do just a little and not get an opium high'. You can do 'just a little' heroin too. You can do just a little oxy too. Take one percocet....it'll do all the same things people are talking about. Talkative, mild pains diminished, less desire for alcohol, the whole thing. And I'm seeing alot of misinformation. Like this:

"Kratom is a rather unique drug in that a low to moderate dose will usually (but not always) be stimulating, while a high dose is almost always quite sedating. This is apparently because the active alkaloids have both stimulant and sedative effects"

That's not unique at all. That's the exact same thing as opium and it's derivatives. Stimulating in small doses....sedative in large doses.

I always think the same thing to myself on these things. People are so misguided about drugs in general. The taboo drugs like heroin and crack are SOOOOOOOO overexagerated in their danger. And then other drugs like cocaine and ecstacy are so underestimated in their danger.

I'm guessing that Kratom is being very underestimated in it's potential danger. If you're a person who stays away from percocet or oxycontin or methadone or any other opiate....you should probably stay away from Kratom too. I would use that as a litmus test for deciding whether to try it. Then again....who REALLY wants to stay away from opiates? lol

But it's like this. Suppose there's 2 pills and a line set out on a table. There's a percocet (size of a thumbnail)....there's an 80mg oxy pill (size of a pinky nail) and there's a line of heroin. So many people will say "hell no I'm not doing that line of heroin. That's too dangerous. I'll take the small pill"....not knowing that small pill is wayyyyyyy more dangerous than the line of heroin or the larger pill (the percocet).

"Just don't do it two days in a row"
"Just don't do too much"
"Just make sure to cycle off of it every other week"

These kind of guidelines for opium use are literally hundreds of years old. And for most people they work. It's perfectly possible to use opiates (heroin included) casually without ruining your life.
I used oxy for more than a year before I was even able to recognize any sort of withdrawal symptom. But there's a tipping point. And it happens overnight.....those wd's are fucking real.

Point being....Kratom isn't 'safe' because you can get away with doing it under those guidelines. For some people, the guidelines won't work.

This is by no means an authoritative source....but reading through these threads confirms my suspicions:

http://www.bluelight.org/vb/threads/345335-Kratom-withdrawal

http://www.bluelight.org/vb/threads/627141-Kratom-Addiction-Need-Help-After-Withdrawals-Are-Over

Again....if you're interested in experimenting with opiates then by all means. But if you're someone who is actively trying to avoid oxy, percs, morphine, and/or heroin then you should really think twice about taking Kratom cause it carries very similar consequences.

i get the slippery slope aspect that you are suggesting

but if you are taking down 150-200mg or 450mg a month thats a lot

I appreciate your vigilance and in defense of Kratom (as posted in another thread)
using it has pretty much turned a switch off in my head when it comes to alcohol

I dont take kratom in place of booze I dont ingest weed as a booze substitute.

Its hard to describe but once I had kratom I realized that I don't really like alcohol as much as I did for so long. Something about the introspective nature of being in that space.

recently I started to do somehting I havent done since I was 21....go to sleep totally sober when tired and not desiring a drink at the end of a rough day.

I've even started to just straight up drink a lot of water when I want to drink and..this is scary to just type out but I think I no longer really like the affects of alcohol, its scary because being drinker was a big part of my self identity.

Opiates are an extremely effective method for getting off booze. I've used percs to get off booze. And sometimes...it's beneficial to trade one crutch for another in order to break habits. Ie a three month perc habit is easier to break than a 15 year booze habit. This is the same philosophy behind clinical use of methodone and suboxone.

I just can't stress enough how seductive opiate addiction is. You just don't see it coming. NA is FILLED with people who got introduced to percs from an injury. It isn't until they're addicted that they realize how similar percs are to the big bad boogeyman of heroin. And the most common refrain "If I had known that these percs/oxys were similar to heroin I would have never tried them in the first place". A big part of it is feeling like they weren't warned by their doctors. Or, if they were a recreational user, how they're perception was totally inaccurate about the severity of these innocent little pills.

The problem is....opiate use is so subtle and nuanced. You can barely even recognize the effect it's having on you. It doesn't blow your socks off like cocaine. Or remember the first time you try herb? "Holy shit! I'm so fucked up!" Opiates don't do that. You're not even sure if they're working while they're working on you. If I spiked someone's drink with 20mg of oxy.....they wouldn't even know they were drugged. They would be talkative, sentimental, mildly euphoric....they'd probably mistake the feeling for simply being 'in a good mood'. To a man....everybody that starts out experimenting with opiates says to themselves 'Oh this is great. I can manage this'. It cures you when you're sick. Like literally cures you of a flu. It helps you with digestion pain....headaches....muscle pain....depression....anxiety. It seems like a wonder drug to everybody that tries it. But if you're like me....you will inevitably talk yourself into crossing the line and having to pay the piper eventually. Not everyone is like that....but if you're already coming from a booze addiction, chances are....you're like that too.

The cliche line describing opiate high is 'an overall sense of well-being'. And you wake up feeling fine for the most part. Even in 17th century China...there were guidelines for taking opium. Cycling on and off....moderating amounts. For people prone to addiction....this is a losing battle. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

So I just want to stress....what people are saying about Kratom in this thread is also true of heroin. You can certainly do a little bit of heroin a couple times a week and be perfectly fine....free from withdrawals or any other consequences. I'm not sure if people know that. With that established.....the fact that you can safely use Kratom by moderating use is NO indication that it's safe.

When you combine the seductive nature of opiates with misinformation ('I didn't know that oxy was similar to heroin')....it's a disaster waiting to happen. Seems to me....Kratom presents a similar problem.

But yeah, the addictiveness been known for a while. Anything that makes you feel good can become addictive.

Those who are smart know to use it sparingly. I don't even like to use it more than two days in a row because the beneficial effects start to wane and who wants to ingest bitter ass powder on the daily.

Of course ex-dopefiends are going to get hooked on drinks made in bars using god knows what. Meanwhile I'm just chillin and eating a little powder, knowing less is more with kratom.

Don't get caught in the propaganda.

in a while.

And we've all known cigarette smokers who smoke/smoked cigarettes all the time/several packs a day.

We've all known beer drinkers who drink a beer or two a night. Then there are people who go all out with drinking - even heavy alcohol content beverages like vodka, etc.

So, anybody who starts a post talking about how good a substance is is going to probably put himself or herself in the "careful"/"moderate" category....but then if that person starts calling himself the "kratman"....then shows enthusiasm with the subject line for emphasis "kratmankratmankratmankratman".....well.................

Wasn't comfortable with the side effects, then quit. Have never turned back to it since. It was very useful as a painkiller, but I didn't feel like it was safe long term.
I think we might be getting a little too judgmental in here though, the stuff isn't crack.
But on the flipside, homie does keep upping this thread randomly.

All opiates are more addictive than crack. The sceince isn't in....but judging from all the anecdotal evidence.....getting off long term use of Kratom is similar if not the same thing as opiate withdrawal.

I'll take the 1 to 2 days of withdrawal from crack over the 2 to 4 week withdrawal from opiates anyday.

The plant, Mitragyna speciosa, and its two primary constituents, mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, will be temporarily placed onto Schedule I on September 30, according to a filing by the DEA at 8:45 am Eastern time today. The full announcement is scheduled to be published in the Federal Register tomorrow, August 31.

Hammering my dopamine receptors only makes things worse, so I've been cutting back or cutting out a lot of stuff (kratom, weed, porn, internet in general)

I'm also doing Jordan Peterson's self-authoring program which I HIGHLY recommend: http://www.selfauthoring.com/

If anything these times are a bit energizing because:
1) With all the hate, stupidity, and fuckery out here, sensible people like you and I have to keep existing to keep the world moving in the right direction. (A little egotistical and Nietzschean but fuckit)

2) I've been shaken out of the illusion that peace and stability is permanent and I'm taking life by the balls before WWIII pops off. No time to waste.
