yep and those are exactly the folks i was describing in my response. real old people too, in their 60s and 70s. i think generation matters, too, per my original comment in this thread.

yea in my mind i think that sort of "complementarity" is more "normal" for light-skinned folks. specifically among caribbean men, my understanding is that it's almost typical for a light-skinned dude to seek out dark-skinned women.

i think they might have experienced dark-skinned women who compensate for their color complex by chasing light men, or who process it by being on that "being mary jane"-niece thing and wanting a light-skinned dude so they'll have lighter babies.
