"Black towns made into lakes... reparations still a no?"
I saw this Amber Ruffin today and just.... is there no end to this treachery? I need a full documentary just on this topic please. Also, let's get some lawyers on this. Does 15 still see all this here?
This: "Then in 1962, a dam was constructed on the Alabama River, flooding thousands of acres of the most fertile land in the Gee's Bend community. During the civil rights era, Wilcox County officials terminated ferry service across the Alabama River, necessitating a two-hour drive to Camden, the county seat. At the time, not a single black person was registered to vote in Wilcox County, and the cessation of ferry service was one of many efforts to prevent them from doing so."
SEE ALSO: Seneca Village which was in the area we now know as Central Park
"Seneca Village was founded in 1825 by free Black Americans, the first such community in the city. At its peak, the community had 264 residents, three churches, a school, and two cemeteries. The settlement was later also inhabited by Irish and German immigrants. Seneca Village existed until 1857, when, through eminent domain, the villagers and other settlers in the area were ordered to leave and their houses were torn down for the construction of Central Park. The entirety of the village was dispersed except for one congregation that relocated."

acts in American history...
1/5th of the residents in Seneca owned their property, but most had handshake renting agreements with landlords, so they were unfairly labeled as squatters. This allowed the city to evict those residents without providing any compensation for being forced to relocate.
Freed African American slaves purchased land in Seneca, and turned Seneca into an economically viable community. They did that at a time when New York City was located below 14th street, and everything above it was mostly uninhabited. Irish immigrants increased the population of Seneca when they moved into the area, and both were marginalized and discriminated against by white New York natives.
The creation of the park led to a huge increase of property value surrounding the park, which led to the development of New York City as we know it
Think of the billions and trillions of dollars that area has generated from tourism, retail, real estate, entrainment, etc....and not one African American New Yorker has received any reparations in regards to that land being swindled from hard working African Americans.
Reparations is the main thing that we should be fighting for right now.... from state to state and city to city.
