I went to the premiere a few years ago and thought it was wack then. It's posing as deep societal criticism.Who doesn't know white women slide through life far easier, compared to non-whites, what does this film say aside from that?
The amalgamation of horrible stereotypes, the outrageous and grotesque moments of crime, violence and sex, its alleged story connection to her actual life, I found all to be bullshit.

Homeboy thought he was slick, left his wife, moved to NYC and gave himself a new Muslim name. He prob thought he'd be able to get lost in the city and become a ghost forever--to his wife. ...meanwhile, in 2018.
kind of an indie version of that movie Havoc with Hathaway. Havoc was a trash movie, but the whole thrill seeking white girl thing was always a real thing
Spoiler: as much as she went through, which even included being raped, you always got the sense none of this was real to her. like when Blue would say he loves her or asked her to marry him. she just saved his life, and he's thinking how no one has ever ridden for me like this. she laughed at it like it was a joke because even she knows in the end this shit is just a phase for her. Even while she was trying to get him out, she was partying non stop, then of course she didn't pay fat dealer dude which ultimately did Blue in. Even when things got serious, it was fun and games/adventure for her. Another small telling moment when her "boss" was like why don't you just move?

Felt like Run Lola Run meets Kids.
I enjoyed how her character really had no cares in the world. No stigma or fear about her sexuality. She seemed almost numb, yet with a mission to help her boyfriend.
I also think it reflects how many people see white female power and influence, even in a city like new York.
The actress who played the main character did a very good job for this role.
My only complaint is how naive and trusting the latino kid was of this random white girl. Like his New York City sensibilities didn't tick him off? That just didn't seem realistic.
