9. "Why didn't you just get Photoshop for your PC?" In response to Reply # 0
honestly there was no good reason to get a Mac if the only thing you're looking to do is use PS or any Adobe product.

I had it for PC
and that's not true--Macs are the standard for photographers as far as editing is concerned. Of course you can do it on a PC but the Retina display and the fact that Macbooks last longer make it a more solid choice than a PC
13. "retina display is cool for amateur stuff..." In response to Reply # 11
but if ur really serious about ur editing game, u will probably need to either get an imac or an IPS monitor with a bigger screen than what u have on ur macbook

It's a "standard" for only one reason: The OS is easier to use. Besides, being a "standard" doesn't mean "best", it just means "this is what everyone else uses for better or for worse".
Past that, Macs on a whole are nothing more than PC's that run OSX instead of Windows. Same hardware, same everything, except PC's are infinitely more customizable and a whole lot cheaper. Even the famed Retina type of display is available on laptops from pretty much every manufacturer... Except Dell's XPS 15 has a much -better- display than the one found on a Retina MBP, faster RAM, a far better graphics processor (sharper per-pixel) and it's cheaper.
I ran my graphic design studio on PC's even though I owned Macs running the same software. The macs I had ended up only being there for compatibility reasons. Same for any photo editing/manipulation jobs I got; all the work was done on PC's with my Macs really only being there for compatibility. Video editing with Premier was the same deal. The only time I ever leaned heavily on my Macs was if I got a job that needed to be done in Quark.
These days I'm considering opening up shop again for photography (I pulled out all my lighting and shit out of storage a couple of weeks ago); My PC's are more than up to the task.

best way to get a selling price is to take an average of prices you see for that exact model on Ebay.
