If eatin meat ain't your life anymore why are vegans/vegetarians so quick to eat shit that resembles meat?

There are tons of fruits, vegetables, and herbs that exist and you can make tons of dishes out of them without having to make them look like or taste like meat. I would think if a person is trying to get away from meat, they wouldn't embrace food that emulates meat.

cuz i'll be the first to tell you i still feen for a burger or steak! Its not all about suppressing your desire to eat meat, for me I chose to stop for ethical and religious reasons (at the time).
I've tried so many vegetarian/vegan substitutes since the mid 80's it ain't even funny. Most recently I checked out more of Quorn's products as well as some vegan bacon my wife found (I forget the brand). While decent tasting, none of it tasted like what it was supposed to substitute.
IMO, vegan/vegetarian meat substitutes are like methadone.
