I've done it once. Mind you I was smacked out of my mind and scared myself shitless staring down at myself...but I've done it.
If you are able to induce a meditative state...it's not too surprising that you would be able to leave your vessel. At the end of the day...it's just a shell.

There's a lot of interesting scientific work being done on how your brain knows where your body is located. Which might sound weird, but that's probably the key to outer body experiences.
As with most (I'd say all) mystical experiences, there's a perfectly reasonable physical explanation waiting to be discovered. The astral plane is a cultural fabrication as far as I'm concerned.

I think people who claim they have out of body experiences are merely lucid dreaming and the dream is in a real place or familiar place.
I've had lucid dreams both in real places and in dreamed-up places....so I think it's all in your head. That doesn't make it any less of special experience, though. ______________________________ http://i.imgur.com/Gj5Wy56.jpg
