"Should spaghetti ever be a signature dish?"

And how would you feel if someone made spaghetti for your first meal?

im talking some legit did your italian mama make these meatballs meatballs

did you make the pasta yourself?

it would require one or both of the above qualifications to be considered a "dish" IMO

my son will eat buckets of my pasta sauce and noodles. No meatballs or meat or anything, Just give him a bucket of fresh noodles and some sauce. The sauce is all pretty much crushed tomatoes, garlic, fresh basil, salt, pepper, and Parmigiano Reggiano.

But I used fresh tomatoes too. I had never made sauce and it was a spur of the moment move. My sauce came out really dark. I think it was because I use fire roasted tomatoes. I was hesitant and thought I had messed something up, but the sauce was really good. It took longer than I thought it would take to cook, but I was happy with the end product.

Your question is like asking "Should potatoes ever be a signature dish?" or "Should rice ever be a signature dish?"

Well, not raw, unpeeled potatoes or boiled plain white rice, no... but dauphinoise or risotto?

Some of my spaghetti recipes are for throwing together in 10 minutes after work... some of them I'd happily serve on a first date with Nigella Lawson.

wouldn't be a big deal for me. I'm cool with pretty much anything as long as you what I don't eat.

if its a signature dish, I'm cool with that too. cooking has never really been high on the list for me.

Y'all buy those labels, I was born supreme

if you can make a yummy puttanesca or carbonara or vodka sauce or just any good ass sauce, that can most definitely be a signature dish

I can get into it if it's seasoned well.

Sidenote: My mom says she prefers my recipe and claims when she tries to use it,
her batch doesn't come out right. It isn't something she easily admits and I have to
exercise serious willpower not to rub it in when she asks me to come over and make
it cause she has a hankering haha.

I think people sometimes get tripped up overcomplicating food. If the flavors are on point, then why not spaghetti?
