It’s that time of the year again, Okay people: the 8th annual Roots Picnic, takes place on Saturday May 30th at Philadelphia’s Festival Pier. And this year’s lineup is about as epic as ever. The festival’s main stage is being anchored by Miss Erykah Badu, and will also showcase a rare Philly appearance from The Weeknd; head of NYC rap mob, A$AP Rocky, and sync license darlings Phantogram.
The day will also see performances from Aussie soul pioneers Hiatus Kaiyote; Jamaican flag bearer Chronixx; and the legendary leader of all things futurefunk, Afrika Bambaataa.
Rounding out this year’s Picnic roster: the talents of Raury, Bishop Nehru, Hudson Mohawke, Rae Sremmurd, King Britt, DJ Mustard, DJ Windows 98, Marc E. Bassy, Moses Sumney, Brianna Cash and Donn T. The festival has also added a third stage to the event, even further allowing a full day of musical greatness for every cut of fan.
Early bird tickets go on presale this Thursday from Noon ET to midnight for a limited quantity of $45 plus fees via Ticketmaster. So come one, come all. Join us at Philly’s Festival Pier in Penn’s Landing for the 2015 Roots Picnic.
