i've kinda felt that way about most movies this year. it's hard to pick a favorite. the closest i came to being blown away was probably by the winter soldier.

i was gifted a ticket to it so that's for sure, and i'm looking forward to getting it over with. i loved LOTR but have found the hobbit a slog to get through, and i don't know if it's because i've changed or they just spread one book far too thin across three long movies. selma is among many i would like to see, however.

i'm hoping that i rewatch the 3 hobbit movies (many) years from now and love them. they just have felt like a letdown after the massive and entertaining LOTR movies, and i think i resented them for stretching out one book into three movies. i've basically been forcing myself to watch the hobbit movies because i know they look best on the big screen (and in 3d) and peter jackson is talented and made a bunch of movies i like, i just wish i had some enthusiasm for these ones. the only enthusiasm i have is for what he can do next now that he's finally finished with tolkien.

they just drew out one story, and characters and good actors i like from LOTR are sorely missing (not that they were ever supposed to be there, but it made it less enjoyable by comparison). the hobbit films just haven't clicked with me yet, but i'm hoping this last one does.
