"Anyone use Trunk Club or Five Four Club?"

I'm curious to hear about your experiences with them.
I signed up for Trunk Club a while back but once I saw the prices, I said bump this. I'll take my ass to Marshall's or Nordstrom Rack. Five Four is much more reasonable with their pricing so I'm intrigued. It seems odd to have someone else who doesn't know you at all pick out your clothes for you, but if the shit looks good, it looks good, right?

So. Anyone?

Trunk Club especially.
They hook you up with a stylist, you skype with them, they pick some stuff for you.

Initially I felt the same way as you, but I've got a homegirl that I like to go shopping with from time to time because she'll pick out some stuff that I would have never even considered. And it'll look good. So, while I haven't actually used these services -- I kinda liken it to that.

the customer service and experience was top notch. I told the stylist the kind of look I was going for and the clothes fell square in that mold. However it wasn't really beating anything you could buy at a high end Marshall's, TJ Maxx, or Rack (some AG pants & jeans, Penguin, Varvatos etc.) on price. All told, I think my trunk was a little over $1200. Unless convenience is that much of an issue for you, if you've ever opened an issue of GQ, you could do a lot better yourself and spare your wallet.

There were about 2 button ups in it between $100-150 a piece. Two pair of jeans that were about $100 per, a $300 blazer, a pair of boat shoes, some shorts and a few accessories (belts, socks). I didn't keep everything though. It doesn't ship on a regular schedule though, it seems to be on demand. I'm looking for similar services at a lower price point just to see what people put together I might like, but again, even if you're slightly into fashion, you could do better on your own.

you might as well buy some quality jeans once for the year. $100 is pretty standard for good denim.
Men anyway, I ain't paying more than $10 for some jeans. But I'm small and there's a million options for me.
Smaller men might have the option to find jeans for cheap with lots of options. Larger men, not so much.

I'm a borderline "larger" man (38-40" waist). Cheap jeans are easy to find and they last forever. I've never once had a pair of jeans "fall apart" even with my habit of washing after I wear them once.

Only really for jeans though. He's very tall and fit so finding jeans is always an isssue. Nigga rips a hole in the crotch of his jeans after six months like he's the hulk or something. So shopping for jeans at the store is nearly impossible. The trunk club stylist sends pants he can actually fit and a lot of choices. The prices are usually like 175 to 250 or so. The shirts they send are usually overpriced and a joke stylewise.

at this swap meet discount type of store. They had exactly one pair that fit him. He hasn't busted out of those yet thankfully.
At least the trunk club sends a lot of stylish options of jeans rather than the standard boxy looking cut of jeans.

$1200 for a trunk filled with clothing that could be bought for $300 or so dollars if you got up off your ass and shopped.

I love hearing people make up all types of excuses for why this shit is needed.

They claim the value of each package is at least $120.
I might give that a try for a month or two.

No one says they need this shit, but it's there for those who want it.

you can get cool Levi's in an array of styles/fits for $40-50 bucks at Macy's.

JCPenney sells decent dress shirts or try Charles Tyrwhitt if you feelin fancy

Spend $$ on SHOES and build around it.

Play with patterns/colors; try opposites, complimentary colors. Wear shit that makes YOU feel good. CONFIDENCE is part of being stylish/looking good.
