This was my favorite episode so far. Lots of great dialogue and the composition of the scenes has been off the chain this season

I know he's used to getting in the dirt, but wtf? I don't think there was enough of a build of Frank "abandoning" him to justify this move (I mean from his character's perspective, I know nothing would justify that move from a normal person's perspective). I mean shit, he tried to get him a $220,000 job and he's THAT mad just cause it's not in the white house. The only time he said "I'm ready to come back to work" was when he clearly wasn't ready.

and if he can't be in the game on his old team then he's gonna bring em down. he doesnt have shit else in his life and that 220K job is basically sticking him out in the wilderness.

i totally expect that out of him.

i guess i just thought THAT specifically was below him because it undoes his previous work. his reputation is that of a guy who can get his hands dirty for you, but i doubt he wants to gain the reputation of someone who will take out a previous employer using inside info alone. plus, he was supposed to get rid of it. that means he didn't do his job before when he's known for covering all his bases. what if he was still working for underwood and an opponent had raided his home (or wherever he kept it)?

I also don't beleive Claire getting whatever she wants from Frank and having her mistakes and failures quickly turn into Ws

I just don't see this turning out good for them. They are acting like Tyrants, which actually is an interesting critique of contemporary American politics

When he went begging Frank for a job I thought the better play was for him to PROVE his worth instead of begging. He went to work for Dunbar bc he wanted to put himself in position to get invaluable intel that he could use as leverage to get his old job back. Or that he could to blackmail Frank if it came to that. The journal was part of it - offer it to her and then you see what happened. It totally worked.

I get that, but he still has to admit to Frank that he kept the journal. He doesn't know how Frank will react, and after Russo and the journalist my best guess is not great. Even after burning the evidence in front of him he's gotta sell Frank (and by proxy, Claire) on trusting him again. Shit, that's a tough enough sell after he's fallen off the wagon. The better play would be tell Dunbar some fake info (maybe with forged evidence if she's skeptical) that the Underwoods could easily disprove on the off-chance she tries to use it later.

yes but that doesn't send the message to Frank - that he needs to bring Stamper back into the fold b/c he's dangerous. i like your plan but it could easily result in a pat on the back and a big 'thanks, pal!' from Frank and not a job. putting Frank in a weak position allowed Stamper to call his own shot.
