"Re-sequence common's "one day it'll all make sense""

the sequencing of "one day..." was always my only problem with the album. for example, i always hated the breaking up of "stolen moments" pt. 2 & pt. 3. i remember questlove talking about the sequencing, and how he didn't like it. in all my years here, i don't remember a post talking about it though. late pass me all you want.

anyway, post up your sequencing of the album. tell me what's wrong with mine. whatever. i don't have the full album with me (all but 4 songs), but here's my attempt.

1. introspective
2. invocation
3. real ni**a quotes
4. hungry
5. making a name for ourselves
6. 1,2 many...
7. food for funk
8. stolen moments pt. 1
9. stolen moments pt. 2
10. stolen moments pt. 3
11. remindin' me (of sef)
12. all night long
13. retrospect for life
14. G.O.D.
15. gettin' down at the amphitheater
16. my city
17. pops rap

...from my vinyl collection

Side A
Introspective
Invocation
Real Nigga Quotes
Retrospect for Life

Side B
Gettin' Down at the Amphitheater
Food for Funk
G.O.D.
My City

Side C
Hungry
All Night Long
Stolen Moments Pt. 1
Stolen Moments Pt. 2

Side D
1'2 Many...
Stolen Moments Pt. 3
Making a Name for Ourselves
Reminding Me (of Sef)
Pop's Rap Part 2

I never gave the sequencing of this album any thought. I thought the breaking up of stolen moments worked. I think 1'2 many was a b-side/released before the album, so after your brain digested parts 1&2, your neck starts to snap, and then surprise...part 3. After the beat fade on resurrection, what else could he have done. Classic album...the single, reminding me of sef is the weakest track on the album.

there's absolutely no flow to the album if you listen to it all the way through.

for example:

Real Nigga Quotes
Retrospect for Life
Gettin' Down at the Amphitheater
Food for Funk
G.O.D.
My City

not ONE of these songs flows into the next.

the sequencing on this album is legendarily bad. the album itself tough is definitely incredibly great. thing is though, this post was about the sequencing, so i'm really looking for other people's ideas, and what they think is a better flow than what was released (or what i posted).

p.s. the problem with breaking up pts. 2 & 3 of stolen moments is you interrupt the telling of the story. esp when every song is only a verse long.

cause I frankly don't care. Generally sequencing on albums is of utmost importance to me but this album was so good I never gave it much thought.

Therefore my only critique of yours is that it essentially has two "skits" at the end. A spoken word piece should break up two songs in m y opinion, (namely you ending it with My City followed by Pops Rap), not be right in front of another essential "skit".

But otherwise I like your sequencing.

maybe i'll try putting "my city" after "food for funk." i also wasn't really sure where i wanted to put "gettin' down at the amphitheater," as it really doesn't fit with any other song on the album.
