So, my friend tried to convince me last night that she saw an ad for the Roots playing at Paradiso in Amsterdam in December. I told her that I'd know about that shit, as I'm here all the time and on the Paradiso mailing list. Today she sent me this link which says the Roots will be here on the 8th and 9th of December. BUT the Paradiso website doesn't mention it.

I mean, the roots don't need to advertise too much here, cause their shit will sell out for sure, but it'd be a little dumb not to be up on the venue website.

Is there ANY chance this is true?

It's true, but only if you have your time machine to go back to December 2008.

last year they played paradiso on the 8th and 9th. i should know, i was there. and i'm pretty sure that's a copy of last year's listings as well - mgmt, the streets, etc.

so i'm afraid, for your sake and mine, that the legendary won't be in town next month.

on a side note, last year (pre fallon) i was fortunate enough to have a quick chat with ?uesto himself, who cryptically said that this was the last time they'd ever play amsterdam. EVER. take that as you will...

WTF? they've come here every year for a long time. it was probably just a cryptic bit about how they'd be busy w/ Fallon. It might be a while, but one day they'll be back...
on the other hand though, i'm moving back to the states in like 4 months, so i already got a list of people to go see. The roots are near the top.

yep, that's what i thought at the time. but he did say ever about three times and in a very definitive manner. and who am i to question that man?

i mean, the hope is always that they'll tour europe with the next album. who knows?
