they changed up the set list times...alot of people missed Common and The Roots because of it...

Since it was on two stages, people leave to see people and come back to find out that made a switch...

The two biggest ones for me was when House of Pain and Common swapped slots and when The Roots and Big Boi swapped. I left to go see M.O.P. thinking that House of Pain was doing their set. Went back to the main stage after M.O.P was done and Common was almost finished. I was hurt. He was one of the main reasons for me going.

I was lucky to catch the roots. If I didn't have interest to see Big Boi, i would have missed them too...because the second swap happened. When I saw the instruments come out, i knew that wasn't Big Boi. I just hope next year, they just have one stage. Or if they have two stages again, I suggest rethinking who you put on the main stage vs. the paid dues stage.

I wanted to see Raekwon, but I wasn't gonna miss the Roots show to see him. And I wanted to see RZA, but I wasn't willing to risk missing Big Boi. I don't understand why Wu Tang wasn't on the main stage. That made no sense to me. Other than that, it was ok. The Roots held it down as usual and DJ Dummy did well for Common. I am pretty sure Common held it down even though I missed it. I didn't stay for the entire Nas/Damien Marley set because I wanted to beat traffic out of the Comcast Center.

HERES THE RUN DOWN GOT IN AROUND TWO OCLOCK HIT UP THE PAID DUES STAGE CAUGHT MYSTIC JOURNEYMEN DO TWO SONGS BEFORE I HEAD OVER TO THE MAIN STAGE THEY WERE GETTING THE CROWD AMPED (DEFINETELY COULD TELL THE PAID DUES STAGE HAD A MORE STACKED LINE UP THIS YEAR LAST YEAR THERE WERE ONLY LIKE 20 PEOPLE IN THE CROWD AT ALL TIMES.) THEN RAN OVER TO THE MAIN STAGE CAUGHT THE END OF CHARLIE TUNA IT WAS KIND SHITTY DUE TO SOUND PROBLEMS. AFTER CHARLIE I WALKED PAST THE PAID DUES STAGE AND HEARD EYEDEA AND ABILITIES DUE A SICK FREESTYLE THEN RAN BACK TO THE MAIN STAGE AND OUT CAME K'NAAN WHO WENT THRU A FEW OF HIS SONGS FROM THE DUSTY FOOT AND THEN GAVE US HIS NEWER STUFF STRANGELY MISSING WAS ABC'S WHICH I THINK WOULD HAVE GONE OVER WELL WITH THE AUDIENCE. ANOTHER THING HE DID WAS TRY TO DO AN ACAPELLA BUT WHO EVER WAS ON THE PAID DUES STAGE AT THAT TIME WAS SO HYPE I THINK IT KINDA KILLED THE VIBE OF WHAT HE WAS TRYING TO GO FOR . BUT ALL IN ALL I WOULD SAY HE DID PRETTY GOOD.RAN BACK O PAID DUES SAW PSYCHO REALM DO A SONG OR TWO THEY HAD THE CROWD HYPE AND THEY DID THERE THING. SAW NECRO FOR A MINUTE DUDE SOUNDS LIKE COOKIE MONSTER I GUESS HE TRYING TO BE ON SOME DIFFERENT SHIT WITH HIS DEATH RAP BUT ITS NOT REALLY FOR ME I GUESS. REFLECTION ETERNAL CAME OUT RAN THRU THE CLASSICS BUT CAME OUT LATE SO KINDA RUSHED THRU THE SET I'VE SEEN TALIB BEFORE AND FEEL THIS WASN'T HIS BEST PERFORMANCE. GOT OVER TO SEE BUCKSHOTS WHO RIPPED THE STAGE TO SHREDS ALSO KRS-1 CAME OUT DID SOUTH BRONX AND THE BRIDGE IS OVER THEN THEY DID THERE NEW SONG ROBOTS WHICH WAS DOPE. AFTER THAT THEY TRADE FREESTYLES BACK AND FORTH AND THEN DID ROBOT AGAIN FOR EMPHASIS.
UP NEXT WAS M.O.P. AND THEY WERE HANDS DOWN THE BEST ACT ON THIS STAGE MAYBE BOTH STAGES THEY WENT THRU TONS OF SHITS, 4 ALARM BLAZE, COLD AS ICE, HOW ABOUT SOME HARDCORE AND OBVIOUSLY ANTE UP WHEN ANTE UP CAME ON THE CROWD LOTS THERE SHIT AND THERE WAS A HUGE MOSH PIT. ALSO M.O.P. BROUGHT HOW LOCAL CAT TERMANOLOGY WHO CAME OUT AND DID WATCH HOW IT GO DOWN. AFTER HE DID IT YOU COULD SEE HIM ON THE STAGE LOSING HIS MIND FOR THE REST OF M.O.P.'S SET. THEN WE WENT BACK TO THE MAIN STAGE FOR AN UNFORTUNATE SURPRISE COMMON WAS ALREADY MID WAY THRU HIS SET HE SWITCHED SET TIMES WITH HOUSE OF PAIN /LA COKA NOSTRA SO I GET THERE AND TALIB IS ON STAGE FINISHING A SONG WITH HIM. THEN HE GOES INTO LOVE OF MY LIFE WHERE HE DID THIS THING THAT HE WOULD SWITCH UP THE SONG TO OLD CASSIC HIP HOP SONGS IT WAS PRETTY GOOD. HE DID, THE PEOPLE, THE FOOD, GET EM HIGH AND UNIVERSAL MIND CONTROL SO AT LEAST I GOT TO SEE SOME GOOD ONES. THEN OUT CAME HOUSE OF PAIN WITH LA COKA NOSTRA. IT WAS PRETTY GOOD ILL BILL DID SOME OF HIS SHIT THEY DID THE CIA IS TRYING TO KILL ME WHICH IS DOPE. THEY RAN THROUGH SOME OLD STUFF SOME NEW STUFF AND ENDED IT WITH JUMP AROUND WHICH GOT THE CROWD OUT OF THERE SEATS AND GOING CRAZY AND LA COKA NOSTRA BANGER, THATS COKE. WENT DOWN TO CATCH A LITTLE BIT OF SLAUGHTERHOUSE WASN'T REALLY IMPRESSED FROM WHAT I SAW( I LIKE THEM ON RECORD) MAYBE THEY JUST DONT PERFORM WELL? BUT I LEFT PRETTY QUICK WHEN I GOT A TEXT SAYING ROOTS WHERE ABOUT TO TAKE THE STAGE AND THEY WERE GREAT STARTED OF WITH SOME MORE STRAIGHT HIP HOP JOINTS AT A RAPID FIRE PACE THEN LIKE IN THE MIDDLE OF THEIR SET THEY STARTED GETTING A LITTLE MORE FUNKY WITH IT THEY THREW JUNGLE BOOGIE ON THE SET LIST AS WELL. HIT UP PAID DUES TO SEE RAEKWON RUN THRU SOME OF HIP HOPS MOST CLASSIC VERSES AND TELL US ONLY BUILT FOR CUBAN LINX II WILL BE OUT IN SEPTEMBER (YAH RIGHT!) BACK TO THE MAINSTAGE FOR BIG BOI WHICH I FEEL WAS A GOOD IDEA TO BRING ON THIS TOUR HE KINDA GOT A PARTY ATMOSPHERE IN THE AIR AND THE CROWD WAS INTO IT. THEN IT WAS TIME FOR THE MAIN EVENT AND LET ME TELL U DAMIEN MARLEY AND NAS TOGETHER IS SOME SICK SHIT IT WENT TOGETHER SO WELL.
NAS CAME OUT FIRST DID SOME OF HIS SHIT THEN BROUGHT OUT DAMIEN THEY TRADE BACK AND FORTH OVER SOME CLASSIC HIP HOP AND REGGAE BEATS. THEN NAS DID ONE LOVE AND THEY WENT INTO BOB MARLEYS SONG WITH THE SAME NAME. THEN NAS "WENT TO ROLL A BLUNT" AND DAMIEN HAD THE STAGE TO HIMSELF. RIPPED THRU SOME OF HIS SHIT OBVIOUSLY JAMROCK AND A SNIPPET OF KAHKI SUIT. HE ALSO GOT THE CROWD CHANTING HIS FATHERS WORDS, "WE DON'T NEED NO MORE TROUBLE". OUT CAME NAS AGAIN DID A FEW MORE SONGS INCLUDING GOT YOUR SELF A GUN MADE YOU LOOK AND THEN DID A GREAT VERSION OF ONE MIC THAT WAS HIM RAPPING TO A BEAT BEING PLAYED ON A DJIMBE AND THE AUDIENCE CLAPPING. AFTER THAT DAMIEN CAME OUT TO DUE ROAD TO ZION AND THEN THEY DID ANOTHER ONE OF THEIR SONGS AND BROUGHT K'NAAN OUT. THIS SHOWS VALUE FAR EXCEEDED THE PURCHASE PRICE OF 40 BUCKS. AND I FEEL IT EVEN OUT DID LAST YEARS.

Luckily, I still caught Common and the Roots but my plan was kinda shot.

Raekwon was nasty on the 2nd stage but him and Rza were both salty about being over there. Rza especially. He wouldn't let it go. Plus he wasted a good chunk of his set on Dirty's son Boy Jones. He was wack.

I got lucky because I saw them bringing instruments onstage for both sets so I stuck around.

In defense of the venue, they had to switch things up because artists showed up late. My boy was backstage and said Big Boi didn't even get there until Common was finishing up.

but the two stage stuff is unsat. I think they should have done a better job with the lineups for each stage. I don't get how RZA and Raekwon was not on the main stage.

was definitely different. In the past, the 2nd stage was reserved for more up-and-coming and alternative acts. Atmosphere, Murs, Sage Francis, Brother Ali, etc.

Two years ago, Wu was one of the main acts on the main stage.

I agree that there's no way they should have been on the 2nd stage.

It was awesome, I was front row on the main stage the whole time. But I got a few complaints.
-Started too late.
-Too much time in between sets. KRS came out to host towards the end, but before him it was just boring as shit standing there. Supernatural never talked to the crowd, he introduced like 2 acts, that was it.
-Seemed like the Roots set got cut short. It said it was gonna be an hour, felt like 25 min.
-I live in Michigan. I decided to go to the Chicago show because I was told Common and others (House of Pain, Pete Rock) would be there. That was a load of bullshit. And wtf, why does Toronto get Mos Def in his place and we got nothin?
But back to the good. K'Naan and Chali 2na were both tight, but there was hardly any crowd for em. I'm not a Tech N9ne fan, but he definately put on a great show. Kweli was good, shoulda complained less about his sound and just kept goin though. DON'T STOP THE SONG. Big Boi was sick as hell, just went through classic Outkast hits. Roots were good but as I mentioned, too short. Busta Rhymes was the sickest act for sure. I think he might've been cut a little short too, but he made up for it just goin through each hit quickly. Nas and Damian Marley were sick, but I missed a lot of it (I never left for food/drink, had a great spot I didn't wanna lose, so I almost passed out and had to step to the side to get h2o from venue employees). So that sucked for me, but they were pretty sick from what I watched.
Overall I liked it, just pissed bout those couple things.
