"SKILLZ....r u serious with that vid bout puff n hov?!!?!!"

First off let my say two things....SKILLZ is a dope lyricist...he had one of the most slept on LP's of all time in the Nod Factor....n i am a die hard roots fan....I love hip hop period...i manage an up and coming producer in the game as well....

HERE WE GO....the reason no one does well on the east coast is that they have the absolute worst production on thier LPS...even Skillz new album minus on or two beats was trash....People wont pay for dope production period...PRIMO..PETE ROCK...ALC....all readily available.....instead these dumb mfrs get myspace clowns and their boys 2 produce shit...and it is horrible...aint that the reason why GHOST only puts out semi quality shit and the rest of the WU including RZA are irrelevent...........

Im headin 2 the club and i will post more on this but let me say one thing...the rolling stones, springsteen, aerosmith didnt have to put anyone on...so why does HOV.....i agree he shouldnt have taken the president postion n i think he knows that....EAST COAST RAP IS HORRIBLE >>> all cuz the production on mfrs later....i will post more later....WATCH THE SKILLZ vid on the allhiphop.com rumors section if you dont know what im talkin bout

Well I'll sit back and wait for the bombs to get dropped on you. I will say that traditionally east coast music is not production heavy and has more lyrical emphasis while other areas of the country have their own styles. This doesn't apply to Skillz most recent album though. Maybe you really didn't listen to Skillz in that video. His whole point was there already is a Pete Rock. How's the next Pete Rock gonna get his shot if everyone skips him over.

Next point is that your comment about beats being trash may apply to albums like the earlier AZ joints but not the current Skillz album. I can point out a host of west coast and down south rappers that are trash...including one that wants to make sure you heard his line "goin @ the throne like HAIR IN A COMB". Are u 4 real??? Take them trash lyrics elsewhere.

Lastly, I'm not believin people buy records anymore. So if you wanna post and say you copped somethin or listened then I wanna see proof. I got mine, where's yours?

Okay im back for part2.....
In reponse to yellow i buy alotta cds...i think downloading is killing the music game...if the cds dope i buy it...Here is something that Skillz made a point about that i agree with....It's ridiculous that a gr8 producer like NO ID had to sign with So So Def to get Jayz to listen to or even work with him...Big Name artists are not accessible to up and coming good artists slash producers...n what really kills me is that DJ Premier recently did an interview saying the beat he gave Ill Bill (Ill Bill- Society Is Brainwashed...which is a gr8 song) Jay Z didnt even listen too....Primo and Ski were a huge reason why Jay got a big boom when he came out

And listen there isnt any next Biggie, Jay, etc.....All these dumbasses come on tryin to sound like what is sellin...Jeezy sucks...Rick Ross is garbage..Lil Wayne has flow but his lyrics are worthless...These are top selling artists....The new east MCs who are somewhat new and supposed to be good are horrible...Saigon is a very incredible artist...his LP may never come out...other than that who.....Papoose i cant stand...its sounds like he just talks...there are no good dope new NY/PHILA MCs anymore....thats why the trone hasnt been takin....back in the 90's new mfrs used to get on flex show n freestyle n kill it (memeber when DMX/NORE/CANIBUS cypher...CRAZY WHEN IT HAPPENED)....you dont get that anymore...all down south bullshit....

Come out fresh and if your dope you will make it....but east coast rap is dead....unless someone new pops up and kills it and goes against the grain its a wrap for us.....theres no reason a guy like Jim Jones should sell the records he does..he is on of the worst rappers ever....im sorry but souljah boy is stupid.....our youth are getting dumber by the minute and are embracing this stupid rap....its kills me as a fan

HIM THANKS...i noticed that the other day but just was lazy n didnt feel the need to correct myself.......I figured most cats would see the mistype n get what i meant..funny comment from an A&R who works with a very high profile mc/rapper...The guy who i manage was asked who some big name cats who he wants to work with...he says Jadakiss...the response he got was "Jadakiss is a failure, what about Rick Ross?" he laughed and the guy kept askin him for club bangers...hahah....Every classic lp in the game all had hard production on it....Biggie-Ready To Die,Raekwon-OBFCL, NAS- ILLMATIC, etc......i just dont get it man.......AINT THAT THE REASON THE ROOTS TOOK BDAY GIRL OFF THE LP.....cuz they thought it didnt go with the tone of the lp......the biggest downfall in rap of all time is happening as we speak....50 Cent...man they guy may have money but his music just keeps goin downhill every year...EVEN WITH JAKE ONE AS AN IN HOUSE PRODUCER!!!(which peep his white van music lp..>WOW!!!)..and all because of commercialism/need to make money

>HERE WE GO....the reason no one does well on the east coast is
>that they have the absolute worst production on thier

that could be a factor.

down south and west coast (back when g funk was a sound and a lifestyle) actually reflected their lifestyle. and of course once the east coast opened that door (big's jawn with bone thugs is a historical ) then it reeked of bandwagoning. not to mention the cost of clearing the samples is RIDIC!!!!

so pretty much the "identity" of a coast (boom bap) has been abandoned.

the closest that cats get to it is the translation of the east coast sound via the ruff ryder 98-2002 period. shit like "money power respect" and "24 hours to live"--2 songs that are boom bapish....but hardly Illmatic material imo. so liking the production approximation of that type of "Street" sound is sorta like the lesser of two evil candidates in an election.

not your choice (does it rank with "electric relaxations"?) but it'll do (thank god it aint laffy taffy)

even Skillz new album minus on or two beats was
>trash....People wont pay for dope production
>period...PRIMO..PETE ROCK...ALC....all readily
>available.....

but in the age of indie labels and myspace pages....a $5000 budget is like a HARD thing to accomplish. i mean i gave him "Hold Tight:" on the love. mainly because im not gonna starve. but meanwhile cats that need to make a living (the aforementioned dreamteam)can't live off of "for the love"

so again a classic "east coast" group on a major is a non issue.---even from that time period only kweli, nas, common, and the wu are still on majors. (us too)

instead these dumb mfrs get myspace clowns and
>their boys 2 produce shit...and it is horrible...aint that the
>reason why GHOST only puts out semi quality shit and the rest
>of the WU including RZA are irrelevent...........

how you gonna clown a newjack for getting put on (granted 30 myspace producers are gonna produce MAYBE a 9th wonder in that pile) and you aint got a track record left. lol. it aint like imma look at you like "well this cat made "come clean"".....imma lump you right in with those "myspace internet" producers trying to get put on. granted. we need to be more scrutinizing with the choices of music use. but in a dying artform....beggers cant be choosers.

>Im headin 2 the club and i will post more on this but let me
>say one thing...the rolling stones, springsteen, aerosmith
>didnt have to put anyone on...so why does HOV.....

cause the hip hop game is part "art" and part "harriet tubbmaning"---so im certain those cats have no "boys" that wanna get put on. and for the record. mick jaggar was VERY instrumental for giving Living Color a shot and a deal.

i just think regarding ghostface..dude knew in todays climate going platinum or double platinum isn't a SURE-SHOT because you're a star.
So, he went cheap and start fucking with myspace newjacks and lesser known producers..because on average..a newjack could get a beat from a newjack for about anywhere from 500$-1k. and if the newjack producer is really in need of money..maybe 300$ for a track.
That cuts corners..so you won't spend so much on production and end up FLOPPING.

Stars have that leverage on NewJacks.
Like how Jay-Z can get ton's of free beats, just because The newjacks understand what could happen if Jay actually used they're beats.

I even heard 9th wonder say he would send lil wayne and ghostface a beattape and he can do whatever with it.. free shit.

white rockstars put people on all the time..they just don't brag about it like hip-hop...hip-hop thrives off "co-signs" .."kanye saying no i.d., jay-z, dame, hip-hop, gee, d-dot, and 3H..they helped me ..etc etc.. "
for a newjack in hip-hop co-signs and helping hands are like BADGES OF HONOR...that show HOW DOPE YOU ARE... you're a nobody (in a music sense) and these Established Legends BELIEVED IN YOU!

Rockstar don't boast about that type of stuff..unless asked in a interview..and interviewers rarely ask rockers who put you on...assuming that they needed to get put on by somebody.
Rock Interviews are more about detailed questions about party life, and how the album came together and touring.....

I just guess i have to have to accept that MC's/ rappers are just on that "I dont care / cut the check" philosophy....It's like they dont care about actually making a great LP just cut the check...i dont care what product i endorse...cut the check...$$$$$$$$$> over art...that is not what music is supposed to be in any genre...I understand every musicians dream is to make money but to sacrifice the aunthenticity slash product......
