What I hated most about Voodoo was ?uest's drum trax...

There was something about the snare sound (the fact that it had reverb or some effect on it that made it more of a BOOM-Brdrdrdrdrdrdrdrdrdrdrdrap instead of a BOOM-BAP) on most of the tracks just made it sound muddy and generally unpleasant. Then you layer a bunch of kats hanclapping, and the beat just sounds so UNDEFINED and sloppy.

Different strokes... I guess. That looseness and organic quality is part of what I loved about Voodoo and (imo) is key to the whole album's vibe. Last thing I'd want is for to D to roll out some clinical, Timbaland/Neptunes-style stuff on the next record...

Chances are he'll end up with an album of himself playing most instruments.

ummm...that said i think if i ever get to be in an emergency room during a baby delivery, im make damn sure voodoo is on repeat from somwhere in the ballpark of 5th contraction till clipping.lol

at least give credit to that much damn rimshot on a record and he was able to get soooo many damn timberes from song to song.

dont get me started about that damn album...i rarely use the term classic for shit anymore (landmark....sure, but classic..)and this one is mos def an event more than a record
