Difficult for me to pick. The trinity for me is LWFC, Fantastic Vol. 1, and Welcome 2 Detroit. I went with LWFC though cause for me beats AND rhymes wise it's just such a complete disc.

...IMHO I'd do:

1. fantastic vol.1
2. voodoo
3. lwfc

Welcome to Detroit is dope but lwfc is the logical conclusion to what fanatstic and voodoo set up.

It's been stated that had an influence production-wise on those involved but never got behind the boards himself.

...but he was THE biggest influence for everyone involved with that record.

That's why I list it at number 2 behind fantastic in the trilogy.

I never said it was 'Dilla only' production.

But in the grand scheme of things, those three records (to me) represent the three facets of Dilla.

1. fantastic - Dilla only production
2. voodoo - Dilla inspired production (done the right way)
3. lwfc - Dilla collab production

It breaks my heart not to include Things Fall Apart in this (another Dilla inspired masterpiece) but it is what it is.

Ever play those records in that order? Seamless...

That EP was smokin'.

Too hard to really pick a favourite out of so many. His whole catalogue is full of gems.

it would have to be Like Water for Chocolate. I loved that album before I even knew who Dilla was.

I agree 100%, LWFC is a better album, but Fantastic Volume 2 (wich i voted for) represents Dillas finest best!

i have so many good memories that are related to that album aside from the fact that jay dee murdered those tracks on the production end. his spit game was nice , too. damn... i still can't believe dude is no longer here in the physical. pardon me for going off topic but this is actually the first time i've posted about dilla since his passing. i've been a fan since i heard his work on the pharcyde's ''labcabincalifornia'' back in '95. he brought so much soul to this hip-hop shit and i'll miss him something crazy.
