Thanks alot man. I wish you and his family all the best through this ordeal. I think this is a good time for us as in the Okayplayer community to reflect on what Jay Dee did for music and Hip Hop and celebrate his life as one of the greatest Hip Hop producers and as a person who had a deep love for music

This is so hard to swallow. Has me not sleeping right at all. Hell, it happened too early. Good thing to break into action with. Condolences go out to the whole Yancey family.
James "Jay Dee" Yancey, may you rest in peace. One love...

I just posted a reply message on another part of OKAYPLAYER Board wanting to know if this info is real because this info is getting forwwarde around Myspace saying that Questlove posted to OKAYPLAYER BOARD with this info for fans that want to send money to Dilla's moms.
I'm pretty sure it is now that I've found this message but DILLA FANS NEED TO KNOW if it is legit or if someone is SCAMMING of Dilla's death and trying to get PAID. If it is a real bulletin, then OKAYPLAYER needs to POST IT ON THE FRONT PAGE OF THE WEBSITE so that more people will see it and know that it is official.
I want to help but as we saw after KATRINA there are way too many scandalous people out there.

once again i say RIP. but on the real all the okp's need to buck up and throw in something for real. even if it's just a couple bucks. use the cash that you would've spent on some new movie/cd and toss it in the bucket yo. for all the music Jay gave us the least we could do is toss up a lil change.
much love to all fam/friends thru this time of grief.

Man... I keep hoping this is dream and I'll wake up. I remember the first time rumors spread.. I was relieved those weren't true. But I know this one is no rumor. I never knew the brother, but I might as well have because his music said ALOT. I can only imagine how those who knew him feel, I have a great respect for him and he will always be number one to me as far as production goes. The name Dilla is up there with me with musical greats like Jimi Hendrix and Miles Davis because I feel Dilla took things to another level and started a movement...he didn't have to march to his own band..because he was a Band! (sigh) I just had to get all this off my chest... Dilla will live forever in the music! I will think about that brother everytime I do beat...he inspired me to up my game!

On Sunday, 5 March, a memorial party in J Dilla’s honour will be held at the Westbourne Studios in Ladbroke Grove, London.
We have many special guests performing including Benji B and Bugz in the Attic.
All proceeds from the event will go to Lupus charities and Jay’s mother Mrs. Maureen Yancey who relocated to Los Angeles in order to care for her son during his lengthy illness.
