i don't know how difficult that was on a technical level, because it had alot of open space in that song, but 'respiration' sounds NOTHING like the song it sampled from.

Dr. Dre on Murder Was the Case (original) for much the same reason. Dre took the guitar from 'Fried Neckbones and Some Homefries' and made into that organ on MWTC. but the 'tone' of the sample was completly different from the finished version in Murder Was the Case.

as for Premier, it HAS to be "Baby Pa" off the Group Home Livin' Proof album. As a fan of the Bob James Two album and that song he ripped in particular... Premier was just going crazy on that shit, plus that beat was and still is something atypical for Premier.
Then you think that song goes right into the ASS KICKIN' "2 Thousand"? Shit...

...that no one mentioned Pete Rock and "T.R.O.Y." This song should get a nod for the fact that he chopped that Tom Scott joint with very little sample time (I think the max was 10 seconds on the SP. Correct me if I'm wrong). He chopped it to perfection and created a classic.
