"The Anatomy of a beat 2006"

What makes a great track today? A full sample, a great chop? Those fucking finger snap? We are at war for ears brothas but what is today's weaponry? Is it truly something for everybody? or is it a definite science in the anatomy of today's beat?

Agree with the no rules thing, one reason i love it is because it allows freedom and expression.

Do you mean the anatomy of a "trendy" beat, a "real" beat", a pop beat, a gutta beat, what? I mean do you want like an equation for a emotionless but popular lean with it rock with it beat? Do you want to know how to get your samples choped and drums sounding like dilla?

Are you looking for techniques or formulas?

I have plenty of techniques and I know "formulas," but I create based on emotion and experimenting.

that's the draw, somethin' that will make you move
all the other stuff is just icin'
make the groove strong, the drums and hi hats and snares movin', everything else will gel together as long as you pay attention to the rhythm and the syncopation
