its hard for me to memorize lines, but i don't like how my music sounds when i read off paper...it actually sounds like i'm reading off paper!

any techniques on memorizing raps?

Try this
Main idea of each line
keyword(s) in each line
then just start to fill in

it's hardest to do it word for word from the first line down.

Just say it over and over and over and over and over and over....
I think u get the point...or dont write and just freestyle with certain ideas and topics in ur brain

Also, learn how to write rhymes in your head...helps a lot as well.

and just focus on them in context enough that the words around them start to sound natural to you when you spit it back.

That's a technique I've used to memorize long passages of Writings, though of course style comes into play in dropping verses where it doesn't in prose.

Nah man, for real...how do you expect to do shows and such if you cant remember the words?!? What is the meaning of emcee???

Sorry tho, I really dont have any advice except keep working on it. Read it, say it, flip it, rock it, rip it...exercise the mind. Years ago I woulda never thought I could freestyle, but the more I do it (...or try to...), the more iller I become. I seen my boys go from being above-average to some of the illest I've ever heard because they work on it every single day. Feel me?
