...the main one being: Keep doing it until it sounds right (to you).
I employ the methods of standing upright, knowing my verses beforehand (not always the case, but it helps with flow), breathing properly, knowing my vocal limits and working around them..and lastly, standing a good distance from the mic.
It's just all in how you train your ear and your mouth to produce the best vocal and sound quality possible.
