i think he's slept on because of the rhyme styles he chooses and the crowd he chooses to surround himself with.
when your rhymes are mostly over-the-top "shock value," there's only a certain audience that really enjoys that... obviously dudes like Em have brought some of that to the mainstream, but since he keeps his beats so raw and authentic, he is limited to appealling to a more underground "hip hop enthusiast" type of audience.... add all of the wild ass lyrics and what some would consider "nerd" rapping guests, your now closed off even more within the indy hip hop market... only that small niche is now paying attention.... hence, the sleep...
i luv his beats, and i only have really checked his first album, and that's because at the time some of my peoples were featured on it... i never really checked too tough after that cuz lyrically, songs about whatever shock story you want to imagine (slappin bitches, etc) just do not appeal to me... www.myspace.com/apexbeats _________________________ AVAILABLE NOW: Stacy Epps - Ruff Drafts - featuring produciton by Madlib, J-Dilla, Jneiro Jarel, Apex, Muhsinah, DJ Pudgemcee and more....
