"i dont know how...."

1. to use vsts at all

i use FL, Ableton, and Sonar all to different extents and have no clue about vsts

or maybe i do and dont know that i do

2. to move a sample around in FL

meaning that if i mis-sample a hat so it hits mid beat instead of the begining.. i have to resample it

i have fidgeted with the In/Out/Trim controls and sometimes i can make it work but..

yeah

3. use rewire type shit

in fact i have to exit from FL and Sonar in order to use ableton or i have all kinds of aduio problems

4. that damn trigger finger

im getting better with it

ableton helps a lot

but im using like 5% of its capabilities i think

there is so much more i dont know but...

ill share these things

It's simple, just put the .dll file in your VST folder (typically C:/Program Files/Steinberg/Vstplugins or something like that). I don't use FLP but I have in the past. There is an option where you choose the VST's you want FLP to show. I think you a quick scan and the new VST's you install show up. Refer to FLP manual.

The software your going to use as the host (probably Sonar or Live) you open first, then you upen the slave (FLP) second. IT should rewire automatically. For info on how to access the inputs and synths, see the manuals (I don't use any of those progs so I couldnt tell ya)

he will have to go under options in fruity then file, then
the vst plugin folder setting, and change that to where ever
he has downloaded and/or installed 3rd party vsts.

Peace.

vst in general are effects such as delays, reverbs, flangers,
compressors, limiters, etc, anything to effect the audio coming from
a channel. vsti are instruments that you trigger notes and other
parameters with, from a midi input or midi track in your sequencer.
So essential the so called sampler in FL is a vsti, or the 3 Osc
joint is a vsti (strangely enough in FL they are called "generators")
and those are vsti native ONLY TO FL and can not be "directly"
hosted by other sequencers such as cubase, cakewalk, ableton, logic
or whatever. And the so called fruity delay and fruity delay and
so forth are vst native only to FL. Then when you go under the
channels menu and the more selection, it will show you all the
vsti and vst including THIRD PARTY joints that you may have installed
into a vst folder of your choosing. So you can use another type
of "generator" (vsti) in place of 3 Osc or whatever in fruity,
that may have different sounds you want, or you can use another type
of compressor or limiter instead of the FL compress, Waves L2
for example, or any type of free vst's you can find at
http://www.kvraudio.com (they review commercial ones too)

I'll talk about automation of vst and vsti parameters later.
Peace.

from the FL 5 reference manual
______________________________________________________
6. Sample View
The sample view displays the loaded sample (with all precomputed effects applied). It also shows the loop points and region locations, if such exist (loop points and regions can be set by using an external wave editor). The first vertical red line is the loop start point; the second one is the loop end point. Left-clicking the sample view previews the sample (if time stretching is enabled, the preview is tempo synchronized). Right-clicking it shows a menu with additional channel settings and commands. It contains exactly the same entries as the menu you can call by clicking the button at the top left corner of the Channel Settings window.
______________________________________________________

That means if you recorded it and it doesn't hit exactly at
the beginning of your transient, you have to edit out the stuff
before using a wave editor like soundforge, wavelab, cool edit,
audacity (free), etc.

Peace.
