you can make it lock... but initially yeah, its easy to get some sequences in there and they sound like the roy lee producer extraordinaire skit...

if you use the brush instead of the pencil, that makes it easier to sequence ya joints...

don't think its sounds different... i'm still learning it actually but i do know that if you wanna sound any kinda "original" or have your own identity, find/buy some sounds or learn to filter/add effects so that you can't tell it was a preset...

i learned that the hard way...

my basslines were thicker without alot of other noise when filtered adn obviusly you have you filter everything seperately. I just seems flat in general

I'm using the 3osc joint, but just using the first oscillator
and turning down the other 2. I'm assuming you were using some
noisy sample in sampler, or some noisy preset in some synth,
so I use the saw wave form.
Here is a pic of the whole thing including how I am routing
the synth to fx channel 1, and using the fruity parametric
eq. I'm not even going to f' with the filter in the actual
synth so I leave the cut off wide open on that.

http://www.bazzworks.com/an/physical/fl/flwhole.jpg

Next I am going to show you details of what I am doing with the
parametic eq. First I select a high self and bring it's level down
several dB, and leave the freq. up high, and give a crook in it's
Q, just so you can see what I am using first. I also got a low pass
on there, but I am just leaving it's freq/cutoff wide open for now

http://www.bazzworks.com/an/physical/fl/flpara001.jpg

Next I am turning the freq of the high shelf down, so you I can
hunt for a range where it's cutting off mud and stuff from the
oscillator, but still letting some higher freq harmonics through,
that you can barely here (still sounds raspy)

http://www.bazzworks.com/an/physical/fl/flpara002.jpg

Then finally I bring the low pass filter's freq down to a few
hunnid Hz, so it's still letting through some higher harmonics
but it's not as raspy. So that way you get your low end, and
a little bit of higher harmonics for the
"clock radio speakers" crew to vibe off of.

http://www.bazzworks.com/an/physical/fl/flpara003.jpg

Keep in mind you never told me if you was using a bass patch
from a synth or from a sampler, so I am using the most
noisiest brashest wave form I know to show you me point and stuff.

Peace.

things like that are the biggest improvement over 4&5.
But it seems to me that I lose a little on the low end, maybe I'm the only one, but I have 6 on my PC and 4 on my laptop and I may ahve to just go back to 4 on my PC because that's where I do most mixing anyway.

it's now way easier for your track to peak over 0.0db - before (i've been using them since ver. 2)you could never make a track peak over 0.0db - now it's more 'realistic' and responsive...meaninh you actually have to use compression and eq in a more 'real' studio way...
