lets build on our knowledge of our equipment from others if they have the experience to help out... whether you just got an mpc 2500 or in my case, your first turntable... share it here and see if you can get some guidance...

i have my "phonos" or whatnot, goin into my desktop interface through a line jack... it has a preamp but not powerful enough to gimme a full mix i guess...
with that said, mixers??? what should i go with??? i can't afford no vestax or anythin like that... just somethin to serve my general purpose... maybe even try some scratchin, no???

one of dem radio shack joints, or get you a stereo receiver that has phono inputs, and then pipe the output from the headphone jack on the reciever to your audio interface for your computer. Peace.

the shit is the truth, hands down.
had it and a quite a lot of sleepless nights over playing with the damn thing. set me back a bit with that and the kaoss pad, but the shit is worth it.
if you're in the northern VA area, I'm holding a clinic on the mpc--more of a producer forum, if you will--next thursday at the guitar center in fairfax. it should be fun.

I had the same problem.. I got a Yamaha MG10 mixer..for like 100 bux..and this little red phono amp box.. run from the ttable to the phono amp box out to the mixer..from the mixer into the instr in on your lexion.. u my have a lot of feedback to adjust from the grounding on the phono amp box.. I have since..removed the phono amp box..and just ran from the ttable directly into the mixer then to the MBox.. one thing i have noticed since the change is that the bass is not as thick..but i have less feedback and clearer samples..
if anyone here can help me with the grounding on the phono amp box..i will appreciate it...

9. "but its not a DJ mixer...it doesnt really amplify the phono signal.." In response to Reply # 8
wait..am I missing something here? I mean when I use the box u can hear the difference.. but theres too much feedback..and I think it has something to do with the grounding..bcuz when i adjust that a little..sometimes it goes away..but i cant keep it consistent enough to sample with it..so i removed it..which i get a clear signal thru the mixer but..the "lows" jus arent there..the highs and mids sound glorious.. for example i put a song like beatie boys - slow n low.. i can hear the kick..but..not like loud thru the woofer.. thanks ..your help is greatly appreciated..
It's used mostly with guitars but you should be able to find one with a ground on it, but it boosts the line level signal so that you dont get a lot of hum or feedback. This is what would happen with your setup because you would have to crank the volume up on you rig in order to get a decent level to sample.

From zzounds, with the free headphones. I'm fuckin amped. I got some questions though. Where's a good place/site to get accessories, like the hard drive, memory upgrade and stuff like that?

Someone suggested a dj mixer, which will do the trick, but there are plenty of stand-alone preamps that do the job fine as well. There's an almost idiotic amount of variance in the price for them...they range from like $30 for the Radio Shack model to tens of thousands for the top ones. Honestly (and I'll probably catch hell for this from someone), the solid-state preamp on my Denon DRA395 receiver works just fine for me.
