"What Old School artists influenced Dilla the most?"

I am up late, randomly listenin to all of these old tracks from Herbie, Quincy, and Roy Ayers....and for some reason, I realized that a lot of his songs have a strong Roy Ayers type of vibe...from the style of vocals and samples he'd use, to the instrumentation.

Are there any Soul/Jazz/Funk musicians that he has mentioned as an influence? Who would you feel had an influence on him, and do you have any song links that show it?

Its not THAT serious.

1.I never said he was the most influential

2.I never said he was obscure

I'm just sayin Don B's album has alot of elements/teaching dilla has used through the years.

I never heard him go by that, but I wouldn't be surprised. I don't think "Jamesilla Brown" or "Roger Troutmilla" have a good ring to them, though.
