micMajestic: the flow is definately on point... not feelin the beat so much... kinda reminiscent of a wu type banger but that snare wasn't doin it for me...

k~swift: another above average rapper no doubt... like the variations to the beat... strictly sampled, huh??? i feel ya playa...

mc delta-t: flows are tight... beat is pretty good... drums are kinda hot...

Also, I wanted to say I did some shit talking in my song, and I just want to make sure everyone knows it's all in fun. I really don't think I'm any better than most of the dudes on okp. There's a whole lot of talent here.

Anyway, here's my reviews of the songs:

micMajestic - Behold

Not really feeling the beat, except for the change up sounds really cool. I hate those claps. I love your flow though, I haven't really absorbed the lyrics all the way yet, but your voice and cadence are really nice.

Willi Dudat - Clockwork

I kind of like the beat, but it seems like it's missing something, or is just not right. It kind of starts getting on my nerves, lol. Again, your flow is really nice, there's some serious emcees in here! I love the hook, especially the "wooooaaahh" in the background.

K Tilda Swift - Alternative Progress

Straight up, I think you've got the best rhyme style out of all of us. Again, I'm not really feeling the beat though. You all made these hard beats that I just don't dig for some reason. You did some really cool stuff with the organ stuff at times (side note, as I was typing "at times" you said it in the song). I like the hook on this a lot though. I think it's cool that you used the drums from the song too.

I listened to everyone's shit twice, except mine I been listenin to for the last 24 hours at least. On some shit, these joints flow quite nicely into each other when played in the order they're posted on the board.



micMajestic - Behold
The rhyme patterns are mad strong particularly in the beginning. The claps are a lil sharp in the mix. I like the guitar riff and the hook sample alot, though after hearing delta's joint I wasn't into it as much. The wordplay is on point throughout.

Willi Dudat - Clockwork
You straight MURKED the horns kid. Cool execution of the clock concept. Like the hook-->verse-->hook transitions the best. The lil homages to pioneers, yeah, I see you.

K tilda Swift - Alternative Progress
The knock hellz yeah, the rhymes hellz muthafuckin yeah, the whole vibe... go punch somebody in the fuckin face, self. A few lines can be interpreted with a variation of words, step ya clarity up a lil bit son.

mc delta t - Vito's Revenge
The hook is ORANGES, o-r-a-n-g-e-s! The vocals were a bit low so I had to concentrate to catch alot of shit. The flows were tight, but I'd've enjoyed them more if they weren't contextualized so much into the contest happening here.

I voted for myself, i really don't think anyone was seeing me lyrically, plus i was going for the rugged feel. But, hearing the beats that you guys created i can definitely see how one might vote differently. Its dope that the songs all sound TOTALLY different.

Pro Tools, and there wasn't any effects on any of the tracks, except for ur normal compression and eq; and reverb on the whole track, but I recorded one lead, a double, than a dub, then adlibs

I can’t make beats. I can’t rhyme. Everyone who submitted entries to this contest has more talent than me in rhyming and making beats. However, I DO know what I like. If I don’t like your beat or rhymes, understand that I’m NOT saying it’s wack. All I’m saying is that your beat or rhymes are not for me! Music is subjective. These are only my opinions…

With that said,

K Tilda Swift – Alternative Progress (3 out of 5)

I nodded my head right out of the gate. The drums in the intro were nice. I think you looped the best part of the original song, but after a while it got a little redundant to me. I guess what I’m saying is that I would have liked to hear more melody. Like the part where it breaks down right before the first chorus, if that was done like every 4 bars I think it would have held my attention longer. Lyrically, you were on point. My favorite lyric, “My mind roams time lines / I was on that next shit, last time”.

MC Delta T – Vito’s Revenge (3.5 out of 5)

Dope beat! I like how you threw the Nas vocal scratch in there. What I like most about this beat is that when I listen to the original, I can’t even tell WHERE you took the sample from. Major props on that. On the other hand, lyrically I wasn’t that impressed. I think it had more to do with the delivery than the content. My favorite lyric, ”So forget these petty punk muthafuckas / oh and one more thing, I’m better than you suckas”. The last 2 bars have to be hard when the beat cuts off at the end of the verse, and you delivered on that!

micMajestic – Behold (4 out of 5)

I wasn’t feeling this one……………at first. Then on the second pass it’s like it clicked. Like MC Delta T, I can’t tell WHERE you took the sample from. I could hear this track on a Wu album! Really, I could hear Meth coming in on the third verse and just ripping it. You had pretty good lyrics and delivery. The only thing I didn’t like was the chorus. Maybe it’s due to the catchy ass hooks on the radio now, but there just wasn’t enough for me. Nothing that I would walk around repeating all day. My favorite lyric, “Clowns on some meet and greet shit / pound you up with the same hand they pound their meat with”.

Willi Dudat – Clockwork (4.5 out of 5)

This song evoked emotion for me. I know how soft that sounds, but I know y’all know what it means to hear a song and have it take you to a certain place. The beat was melodic, and the lyrics were well written and delivered with multiple similes. The clock theme was dope, but could have been heightened by a clock going “tic-toc” double time during the part of the chorus where you say “tic-toc goes the clock”. My favorite lyric, “Uh uh, as I come back / tough as nails, y’all just thumb tacks”.


Overall, I have to give it to Willi Dudat. That song is going in my iPod! Shit, I’m checking for the album!

I'm lovin the beat, especially the intro. It's that dirty style that I love. I like the the first half of the scratch hook, but not the Nate Dogg. The stuccato flow you flippin is real smooth. Well done.

cuz i always feel like i have to flip the beat a bunch of ways...my beats tend to have a lot more change-ups just to try and outdo everybody...but I agree, the main groove was enough...if it were something i was thinking on putting on an album or something I'd keep it simpler...but with these little challenges i;m always like "let's see how many flips of this sample i can fit in 4 minutes" but it doesn't make for as great of SONGS just ill beats and rhymes...that's how i approached this one. shit was fun though.

1st Place---K~Swift: the beats ill, the drums bang right and your flow and voice is definitely on point...definitely some quotables in here too....this kinda reminds me of some shit mf doom and mf grimm would flip back when they were together....but it's its own shit nevertheless...the way the beat switches up and you spit that rapid fire shit is cool, a little trouble understanding some of what you said there, but overall this was my favorite joint and i think you got the best delivery out of the emcees in this contest

2nd---willidudat--dope beat, the way you flipped the horns is ill...dope flow, it'd prolly sound better with a better mic or mixdown, some quotables no doubt, and the hook's tight but it sounds muffled in some parts...with the right producer or engineer and some time in the studio, this track sounds like it could be an album cut. good shit

3rd--mc delta t--the beat is ill, all the drums down to the hihat got that gritty sound that matches your voice, and that shit you spit at the begginning 'if you find when i expire....' caught me off guard on some 'oh shit!' that line was dope....my attention fell out between the 1st and second verse, like there was too much time in between or something so it kinda messed up the cohesiveness, and the 2nd verse seemed more short....i think that 'if you find when i expire...' shit and used it as a hook it could have really brought this song together...the flow was tight but i heard you come better on a couple other tracks before...overall it was cool



4th--micmajestic--this one gets better and better as it goes on, like you got more open the longer you spit, and some of the lines got that rewind factor to em, the beat was cool but it got a little redundant, i like the hook though, tight delivery, voice is straight...i'm lookin forward to hearin more shit from you in future contests

Once tracks are submitted to whomever is puttin the whole thing together (mc delta t, I think you should continue to be in charge), not only should the tracks be posted, but so should the song that was sampled for the contest. I say this because the premise of the contest was that the sample was as much a neccessary component as being both the emcee & producer of the track. Voters could use a reference point.
I guess it would be cool to give a shout out to the party who suggested the sample as well, as they're a non participant, but essential piece of the puzzle.
Also, the poll needs to be here at OKP to ensure that voting is happeneing in a purely legitimate way (not to suggest any illegitimacy of how it's going now).

So... who wants to suggest a song for next time?
