this isn't an objective list of over rated movies; it's a list of successful movies that resonated with the masses ,that you personally don't like. if you wanted a personal agenda list, that's what you should have called it.
>2. The Hangover > >just watch Very Bad Things which this film rips off... same >premise, much funnier, darker, wittier... Cameron Diaz's best >performance too.
these two movies are so different it's hilarious, and you look like a jackass for the comparison. childhood friends head to vegas for a bachelor party and madness ensues. that's pretty much where it ends, because the madness that ensues couldn't be more different. no hookers were killed, in fact i don't think anyone dies in the hangover. nobody loses their mind like diaz does at the end. there is no real infighting amongst themselves.
so tell me, apart from the friends/vegas/getting married thing, how the fuck are these two ANYTHING alike?
>score: 4.5/10 (Mike Tyson and the Chinese doctor) ^^^hilarious, the parts you liked are the two most contrived elements of the story. they were great though.
sooooo....outside of a group of friends heading to vegas for a bachelor party, where the fuck are these two movies remotely similar? nobody gets killed, for starters.
>3. Terminator Salvation > >Everything i knew it couldn't be. not tense and clever like >(part 1), not spectacular and exciting like (part 2) and not >even (even) as bearable as part 3. I think that says it all. >and I love Common, but c'mon. what was he doing here? No >Cameron = no Terminator. > >score 5/10 (Sam Worthington and Anton Yelchin kept me >watching)
this movie wasn't all that well recieved, it's only slightly better received then your personal score. so again, over rated? most people were disappointed in this one.
>4. Star Trek > >this film is the perfect example of the >bigger/glossier-is-better mentality of remakes nowadays. this >film is overloaded. as if they wanted to do everything in one >go. it lacked that Star Trek feel. And the super-young cast >did not sell it to me.. I'm young myself and i found them >awefully bland and robot-like. the mid-section felt like a >whole different film and there was simply too many threads of >plot overlapping to hold your concern. what made the >budget-wise TV series so good is that those shows were clever, >economical, and didn't try too hard to 'wow' you. they just >did. > >score 5.5/10
it wasn't better because it was bigger and glossier; it's too easy to use that as the scape goat on this one, and it's telling that it's the first thing you brought up. bland and robot like is pretty far from the actual performances. ten bucks says you went in expecting to hate it; you disliked it before you even went in. there wasn't much clever about the original, either; it was only slightly less campy then the old batman show. and too many threads of plot? where were these? the story was pretty straight forward and had it's share of subplots (wouldn't even call them that, they were so small) while maintaining a steady pace. in fact, the movie doesn't dwell on any issue for very long.
add to that, they beautifully rebooted the franchise while keeping the old stories and mythology intact. say what you want about time travel, that shit worked perfectly and handled two major issues at once.
>5. Up > >I do like Pixar and i think they hit gems with Finding Nemo >and Wall-E but this is not their magnum opus and is a step >down from those two. It's a little predictable, a little too >sentimental, looks a little too clean and stilted (some like >this i guess), and quite implausible (the villain's motivation >and backstory was weak, and what's with the old man morphing >into Indy towards the end). I already know many of you will >disagree and for the record i think it's a solid 7/10, maybe >7.5/10 if i was between 7 to 12 years old but it's not a >classic. It's somwhere between Cars (their worst) and The >Incredibles.
lol. it's an old-fashioned adventure. of course it's implausible. i mean, what disney movie isn't? talking toys? it's a fantasy. they all are. the old man had a burst of energy and determination, he's old as fuck, this was his dream, and he went hard for it in the end. plus it's a fucking cartoon.
look, just admit you hated these movies more for their popularity then anything. they aren't over rated, you just don't like them. -Sig-
